My quest for free sms

My quest, is to discover a way to send free sms to the major Australian phone providers (below)
My Idea is to use email to sms, that way i just need to find an email address

Definitions:
SMS: Short Message Service (SMS) is a communications protocol allowing the interchange of short text messages between mobile telephone devices.

(a)Text: an abbreviation of Text message.
e.g. I'll text you when I want to be picked up.
Means ill sms you/send you a short message from my mobile phone.

Major phone companies:

  • Telstra

  • Optus

  • 3 (Three)

  • Vodafone

  • Virgin

    Email to sms:

    I've been able to collect a couple of addresses but haven't had the chance to see if they work, please if you are with one of the providers or have friends on one of the providers, test them out and report back with your findings.

    So far i've been able to collect the following addresses:

    Virgin

    phonenumber@vmobl.com.au*


    Optus

    number@optusmobile.com.au*


    T-Mobile/Optus Zoo

    0phonenumber@optusmobile.com.au*


    Vodafone

    phonenumber@vodafone.au*



    *= Have not been tested

    Oh and these 2 i picked up off some random website, who knows if they work:
    SL Interactive: number@slinteractive.com.au*
    Blue Sky Frog: xxxxxxxxx@blueskyfrog.com*

    How you can help

    1) If your with one of the phone providers above or can test one of the addresses take it and put it into your email to bar: eg 0495663121@optusmobile.com.au

    2) In the subject bar type your message: eg test 1; 4:19
    The 1 lets you know which bar it's from eg. subject or main body, and the time to see if the text arrived instantly

    3) In the main email body type your message: eg. test 2; 4:19

      I do agree, also some limitations to SMS Mobile Marketing is, senders can just use a maximum of one hundred sixty characters, which means getting a detailed marketing information out can be very tough.

      Yes they are free, but I'm going to try and avoid smspup because their one of the sites where you have to fill in surveys and stuff, I'd rather just send an email, but that's just personally
