I Love Quilting!!

Quilting has been something I started 2 years ago and really enjoy. I love making something and seeing a surprised look on the recepient's face when they realize that I've made it!

Here is a picture and description of each of the quilts that I've made.

Quilting is so fun! I hope you enjoy the lens, pictures and maybe even pick up quilting!

Zig Zag

This was the first quilt I ever made (at the age of 31--most of the quilters I know are young and super cool, by the way). I was in a class at a local quilt shop and wanted to try quilting on a small scale before tackling the large top I had done in class. It is quite small, but I love it! It is large enough to cover a small child. I backed it with red flannel. It was kind of a pain to work with the triangles, but I think it turned out quite nice. I did stitch-in-the-ditch on the zig zag and on the border I did a free motion loop.

D's Quilt

This is the quilt I made in my quilting class. It has a fun jungle print and I picked the coordinating fabrics myself (like I always do). It's for my 2 year old son (I started the class when he was about 5 months old and finished the quilt when he was a little over one). I quilted it by doing diagonal stripes across the whole quilt--it was a lot of work! It is about the size of a toddler bed.

E's Quilt

This was a quilt I made for my brother's wife's sister's baby's birth. :) It was called stacks of sweets and it was a lot of measuring. It's about the size of a baby blanket because that is the back of it. I quilted it by stitching in the ditch horizontally.

Purple Quilt

This was a larger lap quilt for me that I did a Disappearing 9 Patch with. I used my favorite yellow fabric in the corner of each one. I quilted this by stitching a zig zag down each row.

L's Graduation Quilt

My sister-in-law graduated from college in 2009, so I made her a quilt with her college's fabrics. It was a disappearing nine patch and was quilted with stipling all over. I also appliqued "AGGIES" on the back of it. It is a nice-sized lap quilt.

Nana's Christmas Quilt

I decided to make my mom a quilt for Christmas 2009, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so I figured out what her favorite kind of blocks were. She said she liked spools a lot and windmills. I decided to do a combination of them with a border. I quilted it with stipling all over and appliqued "NANA" on the back. She was very surprised and she loved it!

Pink and Green Paintbox

I saw this on a blog tutorial and wanted to use some pink, black and green fabrics to make one. I did mine a little differently, but I like the way it turned out. I backed it with soft green fabric. I quilted it by stipling all over. It is a smaller lap quilt or a larger baby quilt. I was hoping to give it to my sister-in-law, but she had a boy (thankfully). I decided it was so much work that I'm going to keep it in case I ever have a little girl!!
(Oops, the binding is not totally finished in this picture.)

T's Quilt

My nephew turned 8 in 2010 and I decided to make him a quilt for his birthday with his favorite fabrics. I used Sponge Bob on the front and Transformers, Sponge Bob and Star Wars on the back. I created a design to look like an 8. He loved it!

Quilted Stockings

I thought quilted stockings sounded pretty cute, so I found a pattern online and decided to go for it. I love how they turned out for each member of our family!

A's Quilt

My sister-in-law was having a baby boy and had his room decorated with a sports theme. They love baseball, so I decided to make him a baseball themed quilt. It is a disappearing nine patch and is quilted with all over stipling. It looked so cute on a brand new baby!! It is a large crib sized quilt.

Grandma's Christmas Quilt

I made this quilt for my mother-in-law for Christmas 2010. I tried to match it to the decorations in her house and I think it turned out really nicely. She loved it and was really surprised! I wanted to do a pieced hexagon using triangles because I thought it would look cool. It did look cool, but it was really hard to make! I love the way it turned out though! I put Bible verse fabric at the bottom and top as a border. I also embroidered her name on the back. I quilted it by stipling all over. It is a large lap quilt.

Baby E's Quilt

E is set to arrive in July, so I had to make her a quilt for her shower. It's super girlie and should match her room pretty well. I used some charm packs and 1/2 yards of fabric to come up with this unique design. I can't wait to see her wrapped up in it!

M's Quilt

I got to make this sweet quilt for a brand new baby boy who was born to my dear friend after praying many years for a baby. It is flannel and minky fabric. Sweet and soft!

H's Quilt

I finally finished my son's plus quilt that I started shortly after he was born. He's now 18 months old! His name is appliqued on the back which is some cool IKEA car fabric. I am going to make his older brother another quilt soon with the same back for when they share a room soon.

Great Quilting Notions

I use these on every quilt I make...and don't really need much else!
