My Squidoo Rise From Level 41 to 60

Ranked #2,346 in Squidoo Community, #208,078 overall

The second Squidoo progress lens

I wrote a lens that describes my rapid rise up to level 40 on Squidoo. I published a lot of lenses and contributed which earned me enough points. That lens shows my early development on Squidoo. Since then, I served as a Squid Angel, earned quite a few Squidoo trophies and applied to become a Giant Squid. This lens builds on my earlier effort, giving information about my new experiences.

A lot of people told me that they liked my Squidoo rise to level 40. My development up to that point was fun. Rather than keep updating it, I'm starting fresh. There are lots of new things that happen on Squidoo. This lens will show those that I found later on.

As I begin this lens, I am still serving as a Squid Angel. It has been a month for me now. I will likely return to the regular ranks in a couple of days when the Squidoo HQ staff are back at work. Happy New Year guys! It's been fun being a Squid Angel. I've blessed hundreds of lenses in my term. It was pretty hard work, though, as you can see in my Squid Angel Journal.

Upcoming Goals
With more than 100 lenses in my account now, I suppose the 150 lens Squidoo trophy is not far away. I have also applied to become a Giant Squid. That would earn a Squidoo trophy for me as well. There's another Facebook trophy for 200 Facebook likes. I'm about 170 away from that total. I'm not sure where other trophies might come from. Of course, with 27 trophies now, I already have more than most people on Squidoo.

Another goal is to get lenses into tier 1. My The Importance of Music for Children lens is really close today. I'm getting some extra backlinks for it which may help. A couple of my other lenses are in tier 2 or close. Over 30 are in tier 3 or better. I'm hoping to boost ebay sales for them all as well.

May 2011 update: I am now at level 68. I have been appointed as the neighborhood Squid Angel for Business Ethics. I got the 150 lenses trophy. My current count is 34 trophies.

Helping new Squidoo members

During my time after level 40, I made an effort to visit lensmasters in the lower levels. I noticed that many people at levels 1-3, however, don't have published lenses yet. At about level 5, you can find their lenses. Some of them are pretty good. As a Squid Angel, I was able to bless some there. I also "liked" them and provided comments.

Interestingly, sometimes when I gave attention to lensmasters at the low levels, I could see the effect right away. Someone at level 5, for example, would level up to 6 or even 7 based on my actions. This is because there are so few points required to level up there. That changes. Later it takes 500, 1000, 4000 or more points to level up. From level 80 to 81, for example, 900,000 points are required! Many of the new lensmasters are very appreciative of my comments and blessings.

I'm now concentrating on Squidoo trophies not the levels myself.

High Level Squid Poll

New users can join Squidoo now and become a high level squid fast

I'm already a high level squid since I passed level 25. You can apply to be a Squid Angel after level 30. What's next? Maybe it's best to earn Squidoo trophies for 99, 100, 150 lenses or more. After all publishing gets you the most points so it's a win-win.

If you aren't on Squidoo, you can join now using the signup process.

Squidoo Levels and Trophies Debate

Do you think that Squidoo trophies are more important than levels?

Loading

Yes, they give you more points so you level up anyway!

WriterJanis says:

I prefer the points to level up and find new goodies.

theMost217 says:

They go hand in hand. Trophies are like achievements or goals that in the end make you level up. Without trophies, you might not have a goal to obtain.

SheWritesaLot says:

I like the trophies. They're cute and it's always exciting to see a new one pop up. Plus, the trophies they award for special quests help motivate me to try new types of lenses - just so I can get that cute little trophy!

JoyfulReviewer says:

Although the trophies are fun, it's the points they give us that help us to level up faster, unlocking valuable lense-building tools in the process.

Nightcat says:

I like the trophies as they show visitors how much work I put in. They remind me of that too.

No, points get you new levels that come with new abilities

bharatcnos says:

@javrsmith, your lens really inspired me. And off course the information is also really helpful. Thanks :)

baby-strollers says:

for me it's all about traffic - the trophies etc. are fine, but traffic is the only thing that matters to make money.

Polka-Times says:

I never cared for trophies much but now I think I should - a bit more...

Showpup says:

I prefer leveling up, though the trophies are a nice boost to the motivation.

YayasHome says:

I think that Squidoo Levels and Trophies are equally important because it keeps the fun in the writing while also giving us ample opportunity to learn an' grow in our abilities as writers an' earners.
