Welcome to My Squidoo Tips 1

I will start off with one of the most often asked question, how to add a link to your eBay Store.  If you just type the URL, it will show as text, not as a link. Example:

http://stores.ebay.com/A-Well-Dressed-Bullet?refid=store

See, you can't click on this as it is only text, you need to use an Anchor Tag and the Href Attribute.

What is an Anchor Tag and Href Attribute?

HTML uses the <a> (anchor) tag to create a link to another document.

An anchor can point to any resource on the Web: an HTML page, an image, a sound file, a movie, etc.

The <a> tag is used to create an anchor to link from, the href attribute is used to address the document to link to, and the words between the open and close of the anchor tag will be displayed as a hyperlink.

Example of HTML Code line

If I type this line of HTML code:

Visit our <a href="http://www.awelldressedbullet">website</a>.

The result will be:

Visit our website.

Example in a Text Module (with Printscreens)

To add a link to a Text module:

Click on Edit

Enter the HTML code right into the text box, as show below

Click on Save and your text box will now look like this.

Don't forget, once you are finished editing any of your modules, you still have to click on Publish!

Quick Tips

Using an eBay Store Link

The Store Referral Credit is a credit that Store sellers are eligible to receive when they successfully drive buyers to their eBay Store directly from a location outside of eBay, such as a Squidoo Lens.

With Store Referral Credit, eBay will give you a 75% credit on your Final Value Fees when your marketing efforts generate sales of your Store Inventory format listings.

Be sure that your eBay Store link in your lens includes the ?refid=store in your URL to take advantage of the store referral credit.

blue22d, easiest thing to do is to use the eBay module on Squidoo (for your listings) or if you want to use a link, a link can be to anywhere, i.e. use link anywhere it says "view listings" or "view items for sale" etc.

Great lens. I still feel a bit confused. What if I don't have a store but sell on Ebay. Can I refer people who stop by at my lenses to my listed items on Ebay? How do I list it in my module? I have signed up with Ebay's Affiliate program and I have been able to embed banners and Ebay ads but I want to be able to send traffic when I have auction items at Ebay.

Appreciate input. Visit my lenses. Thanks. Five stars to ya.

Excellent lens!
If I may offer a shortcut with HTML on Squidoo? Firefox has a plug in called Xinha, a WYSIWYG editor that opens in any window. It has saved me many a nervous breakdown in making clickable text, linked pictures and such!
