My TOP 5 TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED IN INTERNET MARKETING

For anyone interested in becoming successful at making money online. Here are my 5 top tips to get started in the world of internet marketing.

If You haven't heard of Alex Jeffreys go google him now! He is THE next big internet marketer. I signed up to his coaching course and here I am, part of the 'fortunate 500' making internet history. Five weeks ago I was still struggling to get my head around all the information that is available on the net and wondering what to do with it all. Four weeks ago we had out first webinar and that started my journey. It took a while for me to get my head around the technical stuff but I'm here now and that is what's important.

These points helped me move forward and take action.

Check out my blog for more information and to follow my journey on the road to internet success.

1. PLAN YOUR TIME

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail

There is so much information out there, it is very easy to get lost amongst it, forgetting what you set out to do, spending hours on the net with little much achieved (whilst writing this, I think I've wandered off to YouTube at least 5 times!!). It is really important to set out a plan for what you want to achieve online, then detail what you are going to do it achieve it.

As Alex Jeffreys says, plan backwards. Plan your goals for the next 90 days - for example you may want to have 5,000 visitors to your blog. Break down your goals into three monthly segments. Then break the first month down into weeks and there you have your task list for the week.If you prioritise the list and be honest with yourself at the end of the day analysing what you have done and what you have wasted your time on, your productivity will increase :-)

As we're dealing with technology, some things might not work straight away as you thought they should, or you can't sign up for an account just yet, but be patient and keep ploughing through your list and you will get there as I am doing.

2. TAKE ACTION

The most important thing is to get started

I could quite easily still be reading all the information that is out there, not doing anything about it. As Alex Jeffreys says, START small think BIG. I have finally started!! I have moved out of my comfort zone being the technophobe that I am, and within three weeks I have set up my blog and am starting to get traffic. I could quite easily still be in my comfort zone, still reading and learning about the best way for me to move forwards. The best way to go forwards and be successful is to TAKE ACTION.

You will learn a lot faster, and have more results by taking action and trying out different strategies than by reading and thinking about it. There were so many things that I didn't know how to do when I started but you learn as you go along. Not everything works first time around, but by making decisions you learn and you get better. If I can do it anyone can!! Whatever is holding you back, unless you start to take action, it will still be holding you back in a day, a month, even a year!

3. CREATE A BUZZ

Start writing and you'll be surprised!!

In order to sell things online, new customers need to feel like they can trust you. What better way of gaining trust than to have lots of comments on your blog. Create a buzz around what you're doing, whatever you're selling, start writing. Submit articles to ezines, newsletters, comment on blogs, twitter etc.

If you see 2 restaurants on the high street - an empty one and a busy one, which one are you more likely to eat at? You will go in the packed one as you trust that people are in there because it is better than the empty one. So create a BUZZ around what you're doing and more and more people will come. That's the nature of the internet and one of the secrets to success online!

There are so many different social networking sites, join them all and start writing.

4. BUILD YOUR LIST

Everyone starts at 0 - the key is to build 1 by 1

If you provide good value and good service, your list will keep keep returning. See your list as a group of potential customers. You want them to come back to you time and time again. So don't try and sell them any old thing - they will leave!!! Give them free stuff, information that you think will help them, and then in time sell good quality products that will be useful to them.

Stay on topic. If you have a site about gardening, talk about and market products to them that are about gardening only. A few might also like Star Wars Conventions, but trying to sell it to all of them will put off the ones that don't.

5. DON'T BE AFRAID OF MISTAKES

By making mistakes, you will learn faster :-)

If you are afraid of making mistakes, you will never get started. When trying something new, everyone makes mistakes. We are all human after all. Fear of failure and making mistakes is a very common reason for most people not taking action. By moving out of your comfort zone and trying new things there will be things you mess up on but don't worry about it.

The key is to keep moving forward. Pick yourself back up, figure out what went wrong and try not to do it again. Some things will come easier than others. Remember we are all good at different things.

Great info. Like Dean777 said, great lens for a newbie. You might want to spice it up a bit. Make it more visually appealing with pictures or graphics.
    Good Job

    Hi Valerie,

I am very impressed with what you've got here! Well done! Your information is informative and has great insight.

For a first up effort I think you've done remarkably well. You can possibly go into the various functions available to you and add a couple small things to spice up your site a bit more, but overall great job. Keep up the good work.

    Cheers,
