Check Out What I Like to Check Out
I am a library fanatic. About every two weeks, you can find me with a pile of books in my arms and two canvas bags full of exciting finds at the checkout line of my local library. Of course, there are four of us to find books for now... but we all love them! What to see what my all-time favorite finds have been? Well, here's a list! Enjoy!
Sarah Ban Breathnach's "Mrs. Sharp's Traditions"
The subtitle for this book is "Reviving Victorian Family Celebrations Of Comfort & Joy" and that is just why I adore this book. It's written by a modern day author as if she were actually living in the Victorian Era, speaking wisdom to us across the years. Are you looking to put the meaning back into your holidays? Are you looking for ideas for keep the little ones busy? Do you like daydreaming of the past? Then this book is sure to please!
Special Knits for Babies
I learned to knit by reading books from my local library. And one of those inspiring books I read during that time was this baby book. Oh, little knitted things--they're so precious! Are you a knitting fanatic? You'll love this book by Debbie Bliss, the Queen of Cotton.
Real Food
I picked up this book just the other week, and little did I think that it would change my life. I've been so inspired by the contents of this book, I've made a lens! Check it out below...

Henry And Mudge and the Tall Tree House
Looking through the children's section for my daughter, I stumbled upon this book... and a new love was born! Henry and Mudge are two lovable characters and as a parent (who has to suffer through lots and lots of reading at times) I so appreciate the wit and everyday humor in these books. Plus, this is a family that loves each other so. What better book could we have found? You've got to read these books for yourself. You'll love 'em!
We Really Love These Books!
The Messies Manual
I've read a ton of organizational books to try to inspire me to get off my rear end (mainly, to get myself away from the computer--ha!) but there's something about the practical advice in this book... it's effective! The ideas contained here will actually help you to be a better housekeeper and enjoy the daily things you have to do. Want to understand your habits? Read this book!
More on Homemaking
My beloved Lens of the Day winner:
The Hidden Art of Homemaking
When I first read the title of this book, I placed the emphasis on "Homemaking" when it really belongs on "Art." Because that's what this book is about--creating art every day in your life as an expression of who God made you to be... and like Himself (because He's the ultimate Artist). Such interesting food for thought. This book has definitely moved me to be more wiling to express creativity in all the little things I do, like making shopping lists for one.
SuperFoodsRX
"Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life" is the subtitle of this book and from what they write in here, I'd have to agree! I liked this book so much, I made a lens. Check it out for more info on Super Foods!
So, What Makes a Food Super?
In this lens, I list the 14 Super Foods and just how it is that they are so good for you.
The Bread Bible
No one ever taught me how to make a loaf of bread. And I discovered that no where else can you learn all about how to make an outstanding loaf of bread then in The Bread Bible. I would consider this book to be a stable for every home. If you love bread that is...

- I love so many of the books you love! The messies books by Sandra Felton, the Hidden Art of Homemaking, the Mrs. Sharp's Traditions book. See if your library has Queen of the Castle: 52 Weeks of Encouragement for the Uninspired, Domestically Challenged or Just Plain Tired Homemaker. I must tell you I wrote the book, but I quoted many, many homemaking writers, and think if it's a topic that interests you, you'll like The Queen, too. The library is my best friend! (Well not really, my husband is my best friend. But I can't imagine life without my weekly library fix :) )
