Poems

Pieces of My Journey

This book was begun, more than 20 years ago, as a way of coping with the dips and swells of life. My Journey is a collection of poems, born of tears and laughter.

This book is dedicated to all of those who have stood by me through my growing pains, and have shared this journey with me. Special appreciation to my beloved husband, who has provided me with much inspiration and the happiest years of my life.
I love you all.
~Trii

I used writing as a coping mechanism during my years as a battered woman. This book is the result of that personal struggle and has been published as a way of offering solidarity and hope to others who are in a similar situation.

The poems in this book are not in any particular chronological order. Some of them date back as early as the 1980's, and others are as recent as 2007.
=====
My Secret
I am beautiful, smart, healthy and strong;
I am a universal magnet and this is my song.

Riches come to me effortlessly, every day.
I am a powerhouse; I am on my way.
I have the best of everything,
And give thanks each morning I rise.
Life is a gift, abundance the prize.

I am beautiful, smart, healthy, and strong;
I am a universal magnet and this is my song.

I sing from my soul -
The joy within me cannot be contained.
I am free to fly, my life unrestrained.

I am the master of my life, not fate.
I set the course to be sailed, with love, not hate.

I give love, laughter, and understanding:
Returning to me a hundred fold.
So to you, my friend,
My secret is told.
====
Gatekeeper

Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper, let me come through.
My time here is done.
I have paid my dues.
My quest for happiness has ended in pain.
My time has been wasted,
My efforts in vain.

Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper, let me pass by.
I haven't the heart to keep living a lie.

Gatekeeper, Gatekeeper, grant my wish with these final words spoken:
I've lost at life; my will has been broken.
====

Always With You

Where the Time Goes

When you were one, you'd come visit me -
At work, where I'd most always be.

By the time, you were three,
Our world was just you and me -
Mommy and Jeri,
Alone at sea.

At the age of five, our roller coaster took a dive;
Together, we made it out alive.

However, when you'd turned seven,
God blessed us from Heaven.
Brand new lives were we given.

Eight saw you become a big brother -
By nine, one like no other.

Thirteen is when you really hit the ground running -
Watch out world... Jeri's coming!

Forever and Always

Adland never stops amazing me.

Sometimes GOOD sometimes not so good.

Why?

One minute we are a busy forum posting place
And then
Good folks post a forum and nobody notices.

Many of you will remember our old friend Trina.

Trina has been off writing her life/love story, she came here to tell us about it recently.

Result: I bought a copy (even here in the UK), whatsmore I read it.

No, love stories aren't just for the girls.

Trina's life has been sooooo different to my settled family upbringing and a little more recent however I found the book moving and a glimpse of a much tougher world.

Her book is called Forever and Always. It shows me, and hopefully you, that we all have a story to tell.

I thought I knew Trina. Wrong.

Trina is a strong and determined lady who has used her life to act upon her experiences.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Go to her forum at
http://community.adlandpro.com/forums/post/2399177/InterviewwiththeAuthor.aspx?flag=3286465

Buy a copy for yourself, tell some friends that you know the author and get them buying.

I like a lady willing to do the work.

Support a fellow Adlander and enjoy a good story.
Not hard is it?

I am the luckiest woman alive. I have the best husband and kids that any woman could ever ask for. I live in the most beautiful place on Earth. And I have friends, many whom I've never met face to face, who care deeply for me.

My newest book is coming along very well. This one is going to be way more than 56 pages, and will not have any pictures. I can't wait to finish it and be able to send it off to a publisher.

I am living in an attitude of gratitude these days, and I am so thankful that we had that share of water to sell to keep us in this house for another month.

A special thank you to all of you who have written to me and to those 21 of you who have purchased My Journey to help my family and me. You are awesome! If you liked it, and know someone else who may enjoy it as well, don't forget that it would make a great gift this Christmas.

Have an awesome weekend. I'll be busy writing all weekend, so if you don't hear from me, that's why.

Trina

I am the luckiest woman alive.

I have so much thanks to give.

What goal is it that I strive?

To make each day better than the one before, for as long as I live.

I am the luckiest woman, you see -

I have all that I need right now.

I graciously give thanks to the powers that be.

Taking care of my wants without worry of how -

Everything I desire, I am open to receive...

Life will simply improve -

That I truly believe.

I am the luckiest woman, you know...

I am loved by those I love,

And that list continues to grow.

I open my heart to the heavens above.

He does for me;

I do for him -

This methodology provides a shared win.

I am the luckiest woman, you see...

A Prayer

Thank you, Lord for my precious boys.
Thank you for my life, my joys.
Thank you for the sun that warms my face.
Thank you for touching my life with grace.
Thank you for hearing me whenever I pray.
Thank you for this blessed day.

====

Ripples of Life

Toss a stone into the pond.
The water ripples on and on;
Like the choices we make each day -
Create waves that affect others in some way.
Take care as you release that stone -
So the wave does not destroy your home.

====

Time

Youth is but a state of mind.
Age is but chronology.
Appearances may be deceiving....
Providing nary a sign
Except perhaps in philosophy;
Another facet of mind.

My Boy
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

Watch me! Watch me!
I'm a fish at sea.
A monkey in a tree...

Watch me! Watch what I can do!
I can hold my breath 'til my face turns blue.
I can tie my shoe...
I can show you more, if you want me to.

Watch me; I learned something new today.
I've grown at least an inch...
Wait- what did you say?

Look at me!
Look at me!
I've come so very far.
Oh, by the way, can I have the keys to the car?

Watch me now, as I go out on my own.
Don't cry Mom...
This will always be my home.

====
The Parade

Hear the pitter-patter of little feet;
scrambling out to the center of the street;
to retrieve the treasures tossed to them -
filling their pockets time and again.
Following fire trucks, fancy cars and clowns -
It happens everywhere in large and small towns.
Please Mommy, take me; take me!
There will be so many neat-o things to see.

====
Dearest Jeff,

You are everything to me -
Standing taller than the highest tree,
Oh how I admire thee.

Your intellect, courage, and honor, your drive -
Your compassion, conviction, patience and pride -
Your love, it has kept me alive.
Remembering an empty life without you by my side -
Not life at all, only a lie.

I remember a boy, not yet a man,
Following a path of his own; creating a plan;
A boy who cared for me enough to let me become who I am.

That boy grew to the man I now see -
A man who speaks words of love to me.
Oh how I admire thee.

Long ago my heart swore to love you forever and always.
Through years of separation, your memory did light my darkest days.
I always had faith you'd return to me to stay.

You are everything to me.
Oh how I love thee.

====
God Is An Artist

This evening in the twilight, I beheld the most beautiful sight.
Breath-taking pastels signaling the coming of night.
Blue to violet, and a crooked line of red -
give way to pink meeting the horizon ahead.
As the sun went silently to rest -
My eyes took it all in,
How truly I've been blessed.
Thank you God for painting this masterpiece for me.
Not a man alive could paint more beautifully.

=====

Treasures

These are the moments I hold dear-
Your warm breath upon my ear,
The feel of your body pressed against mine,
The taste of your kiss-
These are the things I find divine.
Your playful smile,
The light in your eyes-
Your secure embrace,
Your satisfied sighs%u2026
That you grace my life each and every day,
Keeps me playful and happy in every way.
I love you-
'Tis true.
You too, love me.
A more perfect couple there'll never be.

=====
Mommy Needs a New Pair of Shoes

Do you know how it feels to wear a shoe like this?
One that pinches and pokes, leaving you feeling rather pissed.
Discomfort, oh yes, this shoe is not the best.
Yet I wear it each and every day anyway.
No naked feet for me, just agony.
Oh how I'd love a new pair to get me from here to there.
They just need be sturdy, not lavishly styled.
Something that fits with comfort and will last me a while.
My journey is not over and my feet they are tired.
I need new shoes for these have expired.
I've been trying them on, determined to have some.
I work all the while to get the job done.
This new pair of shoes will soon be mine for the taking.
I truly believe this, no, I'm not faking.
They will come when it is time, of that I have no doubt.
It does me no good to sit here and pout.
I am walking to the store, and soon I will reach the door,
Those shoes will be mine; slipping them on divine.
When I have them on, I'll walk over to you.
I'll help you get a pair brand new.

Forever and Always... My Love

Today is my anniversary!

Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

I am thankful for the last twelve years.

Through all the laughter and the tears,

We are still in love.

The road has not always been smooth;

It has not always been straight -

But we've walked it together -

Me and my soul mate.

Thank you my husband for the best years of my life.

With you by my side life is so much more -

I'm very proud to be your wife.

We stand strong through all life brings our way.

We've worked to build a life of joy.

Together forever, we greet each day.

I love you my man; you were worth waiting for.

With you, life is good; challenges become small -

Of you, I couldn't ask for much more.

So many of my dreams have come true, since you took my hand.

A beauty and peace I'd never known, I have -

Since I've come with you to this land.

Happy Anniversary, love of my life.

Forever and always,

Your loving wife.

What others thought of the book...

I have just read your book. What a wonderful collection of beautiful and expressive poetry!!

You have exhibited a true gift! The flow of the words is wonderful and each one tells its own story, and yet collectively tell one big story, I felt your struggles, and heard your anger and always sensed the thread of hope that you never let go. There were moments of joy and laughter, tinged by the underlying sadness and feeling of entrapment, but I never sense that hope was lost. Your uncanny ability to birth these beautiful writings from tears and then laughter is amazing! Great job, Trina!!
