My Squidoo Earnings

Two years ago, I was desperate to start earning money online. You see, I am a homeschool mom of 2 special needs boys and the medical bill were piling up. Things were getting so bad, that we were using our credit cards to buy basics like food because my husband's paycheck (In which he has a very good job and a pretty high income) was not covering what we needed. Under normal circumstances my husband's paycheck would be plenty, with even some left over for luxuries, but when you have special needs children, things are different. We knew we needed more income. My husband could not take a second job because he has to have the flexibility to work over time and to go in when he is needed. He is a computer network engineer and computers don't always breakdown when it is convenient. I was unable to get a job outside of the house for several reasons. First of all, my health was failing. I suffer from chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and a few other conditions. I barely have the energy to get out of bed some days, let alone, go into a work place. When I get ill, in other words, sicker than I am otherwise, I can stay sick for months at a time. Second of all, I homeschool which makes my time less flexible. Third, my oldest son is too old for daycare, but because of his special needs, he can't be left alone at home for long periods of time. So in other words, there was no way I could get a job outside of the home.

I decided I would work online! I started making lenses (pages) for Squidoo in November 2008. It was hard work and at first it seemed like it wasn't going to pay off. My husband really thought I was wasting my time, but I wasn't going to give up. I knew it wasn't a "get rich over night" scheme and I knew it would take hard work. I also knew since I didn't have to invest any money, that the only thing I had to loose, was time. Now don't get me wrong, as a homeschool mom of 2 very hyperactive boys, my time is precious to me, but I was willing to take the risk, because the need was great and my family was worth it to me. I am so glad I stuck it out. As you can see from my list of earnings, I am no longer just making a couple bucks a month. In fact, my last earning that I received in December 2010 (October 2010 earnings), I received $581.33 from Squidoo! That is about equivalent to a 20 hour a week, minimum wage job, so I am not complaining at all, especially since I have no daycare costs, I can work in my pajamas and I can work when I have the time and energy.
