My Dream for My Family

Ranked #2,947 in Squidoo Community, #243,794 overall

My Aspirations

This lens is nothing more than what I dream about for my family. See, I'm an internet marketer and my goal is to achieve enough success that I can support my family and live the life that people can only dream of.

I am using this lens as my motivation to help keep me focused on days when I could simply sit at the computer and spin in circles and look at all the fun things and ignore the real work.

Not exactly where this lens is going yet, but I can promise you something... it will not be full of SEO and optimized keywords to garner traffic. This is purely for pleasure and to keep my fire burning under my a$$.

What did you check off your list?

What is the best thing you have done for yourself in the past few years? What was something that you have always wanted to do that you finally were able to?

A Brief History

I have been toying with online money making sites for over a year and a half now. The addiction actually started in the beginning of 2007 when I started finding freebies online. I'm not even sure how I found my first freebie site, but I loved the fact that I could find free things and great coupons for my family.

Then a few months later I discovered the online money making world. Suffice to say that I was able to make a few hundred a month, but that wasn't what I was trying to do. I am an educated woman who holds a business degree and although I was a stay at home mom, I was determined to exercise my brain using the internet as my treadmill.

In July of 2008 I found a site that really helped me figure out where I should be pointed. Actually, it was a friend that suggested the site and this friend is now my online business partner, but more about him later I hope.

The Story Today

After joining that site, I realized that I would be able to start making more than a few hundred dollars a month and I did. In fact, I'm very proud to say that last month our business netted over $4000. I know it's not business savvy to speak numbers, but this is the one spot in all of the internet that I have said that number. I guess it just makes me feel proud to write it.

The reason this number is so amazing is because I also look after two young boys. I have two children who I raise. So can you imagine this... I have no daycare costs, no transportation costs and do not have to worry about wearing the latest fashions to work. Also, I do not have to do the mad rush around the house that all moms and dads have to do when they are whisking their children from one destination to the next just so you can go to work and someone else can spend time with your child.

So there, I said it. I'm earning a living online and I'm damn proud of it.

What is your dream? What do you want for your family?

My dream is to spend a month in Europe, staying in first class hotels and eating at the finest restaurants, and of course seeing all the beauty.

I work online, as well, and have two small boys. My dream is to buy a specific house that I've fallen in love with and take my boys traveling around the world.

So Back to my Aspirations

Well, what do I aspire to? What would you aspire to? What would you dream if you watch your sales triple every month... month over month? This is what this lens is all about.

The first thing I want to do is secure the financial future of my family. Unfortunately, our family is carrying debt. Before we spend any of my money frivolously, I will pay down every penny of our debt except for our mortgage. I think I will allow us some treats after the debt is gone.

The thing is, I have no idea how long it will take to erase the debt. I know the numbers, but internet marketing is anything but fully predictable. I always err on the side of caution so I do not want to raise my hopes to fall back down. However, three months ago my husband made a dramatic job change and is making much more money than before, so this helps speed things up. Let's put it this way, it would take my husband two years of working his new job for us to be debt free and have some in the bank. So that is our gauge.

Goals! Goals! Goals!

Here are my goals! What are yours?

Big Aspirations

Ok, so let's pretend three months pass and we are now out of debt. That took almost two years less than anticipated. Holy smokies! Ok, so... Here's where it gets real fun. This is where I dream.

- We sell this house and move closer to family.
- We purchase land in New Brunswick on water (where we wish to retire)
- On this land we build our dream house
- Purchase a skoolie for traveling. I would love to buy one that needs work so hubby and I can build it for our needs. If you have a skoolie to give away, we will drive and pick it up... anywhere in Canada or the US. lol

Dream house is the most environmentally friendly house that we can have built.
- Cork floors
- Mud walls
- Solar panels
- Wind turbines if necessary
- Geo-thermal heat pumps
- Trees on three sides of us
- A panoramic view
- Ten acres of property so we can create a heaven for my children to play in

For My Children

Wow. What wouldn't you do for your children if you could do anything? I have no idea what to dream up for here.

- Money in bank for any education
- Quarter Yearly vacations to places in the world we can teach them about... I want them to be able to breath and smell the history. I want them to learn because they are doing, not through a secondhand medium.
- More time with their grandparents and family because we are living closer
- A cottage. Somewhere to let them explore wilderness and lake living. *sigh*
- Music lessons of the instrument of their choice
- I would love to be able to earn enough money so that my children wouldn't have to work. I would want them to pursue a career in the volunteer sector if they chose not to work and would insist on them being productive members of society and not allow a free ticket. But what a treat I could give them. A life of helping others.
- No worries of money. Something many people never experience.
- Education second to none. Homeschooling is an option or perhaps a tutor/nanny so we can fit in the trips we wish to take.
- Post Secondary education of their choice

Other Goals for Me

- I want to purchase a guitar and learn how to play.
- I want to continue to grow my online business and achieve a point where my husband can be at home working beside me (this is also one of his goals).
- I want to learn how to crochet.
- I want a garden to grow vegetables and herbs.

Items on this list that I have achieved.

- I want to have dreadlocks. I have had my dreads for just over a month now.

My Work Goals

- Write an eBook
- Set up a proper website for people who have an item to sell online, but have no idea where to start. A real "how to" guide for newbies
- Achieve Giant Squid Status
- If I need to quantify what amount of money would 100% satisfy me, it would be $10,000 a month. Because I work with a partner, this amount will then have to be doubled to $20,000.
- Have Affiliate Nuts achieve the top 100,000 on Alexa. It is currently at 661,881 as of April 2nd, 2009.

This Lens is for ME!

Call me selfish, but I have created many Squidoo lenses with other people in mind, this Squidoo lens was just for me. I am determined to achieve my goals and live my life by my own drummer. I think we should all do this... we should all create lists and work hard to achieve them!

Squidoo is such a family community that I felt it responsible to create this here.
