Automated Income

I have always been a big fan of the movie Office Space. For those who have not seen it, or don't remember, the film follows the story of a young man who works at a job he hates.

During a botched hypnosis session (where to psychologist dies during the session) he comes to a realization that he has a dream of doing nothing.

I started with the same dream. A dream to have the freedom to break the shackles of convention. A dream to be free of corporate politics. A freedom to live life purely on my own terms. A dream to stick it to the man!

I needed to automate my income. I needed to create more than one source of income. I read just about all the books of Robert Allen and Robert Kiyosaki. I found that automated income is possible and achievable.

There are many multi-level marketing and affiliate programs out there. The products and services they offer are as unique as the people who promote them. Although the products and services vary, multi-level marketing programs all have very similar business models.

Here are some of the things that turned me off:

1. Pester your friends and family. "Here he goes again with another get rich quick scheme..."

2, Opportunity meetings. "Let's all get together and drink kool-aid!"

3. Pass out cards, brochures, or DVDs to everyone in sight. I would rather sell vacuum cleaners door to door.

Now lot's of people have done these things and have had great success. However, offline promotion is obviously not what I like to do.

I discovered it was first important to find a field you enjoyed. Next, do some keyword research that will help you narrow down to a micro-niche within your field. Finally, find an affiliate product that pays well and lends itself to online promotion.

I believe I would rather work smart than hard. Granted, there is no magic switch on my computer that prints money. However, there's no reason you can't automate your income totally online. Life is too short to be unhappy.
