A Peak At My Bookshelf
I love to read and I thought I would share some of my favorite books here. While I do read novels, I like to read self improvement books including the topics of motivation, business, personal finance, money management, etc. so a lot of the recommended books here are about that but I'll also through in some other titles along the way that have struck my fancy at some time or other. Take a look and check back now and then because I will be adding titles periodically. Enjoy.
The Latest
This is the one I've read most recently. It may stay on the page or it may not, but it's the one I last read.

Obama Zombies
Everyone should read this well written and witty account of how the Obama machine won the hearts and minds of the youth in America. This book is much more than just a political commentary, it's a wake up call to every American to beware of how the masses are manipulated and controlled. As you read it, remember that it's not just opinion, the facts are well documented and footnoted. Very well written, entertaining and informative.

Deadliest Catch
Do you watch the Deadliest Catch program on Discovery Channel? I'm hooked on that program so I had to find out some insider info and get more scoop on what it's really like fishing for crab on the Bering Sea. I found books by the captains on my favorite boats, Sig Hansen of the Northwestern and Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand of the Time Bandit. You'll learn the history of these boats and the men who run them. Both books are written in a similar style that will keep you interested to the end. You get a lot of information you won't see on the show. If you're a fan, you'll definitely enjoy these books.
A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity
Whether you like him or not, this book by Bill O'Reilly is a good read. He tells of his time growing up and tells you what experiences and events shaped his views and made him into what he is today.
Here's a short excerpt:
The year was 1957, the month September, and I had just turned eight years old. Dwight Eisenhower was President, but in my life it was the diminutive, intense Sister Mary Lurana who ruled, at least in the third-grade class where I was held captive. For reasons you will soon understand, my parents had remanded me to the penal institution of St. Brigid's School in Westbury, New York, a cruel and unusual punishment if there ever was one.
Already, I had barely survived my first two years at St. Brigid's because I was, well, a little nitwit. Not satisfied with memorizing the Baltimore Catechism's fine prose, which featured passages like "God made me to show his goodness and to make me happy with him in heaven," I was constantly annoying my classmates and, of course, the no-nonsense Sister Lurana. With sixty overactive students in her class, she was understandably short on patience. For survival, she had also become quick on the draw.
Then it happened. One day I blurted out some dumb remark, and Sister Lurana was on me like a panther. Her black habit blocked out all distractions as she leaned down, looked me in the eye, and uttered words I have never forgotten: "William, you are a bold, fresh piece of humanity."
And she was dead-on.
By using humor and a little self-deprecation, he tells life lessons that many will identify with and the story of how O'Reilly became O'Reilly.
If you're a fan of Bill O'Reilly, definitely buy this book. If you're not, well, borrow it from the library, but read it anyway.

- Looks like we might have similar taste. But I haven't yet read some of the books you mention here. Since I enjoy listening to self improvement books, I am going to look for the audio versions. Thanks for the recommendations!
