How to find a Caribbean Job

Find a Caribbean Job

Get away from the cold!
If you're looking for something different then consider working in the Caribbean and enjoy Caribbean summers all year round!

I have had the great opportunity to come and go from the Caribbean seven times. The shortest was just one day - to drop off equipment, and the longest was our most recent - 4 years, on the little known Island of Curacao.
After returning here I managed to pass on an opportunity to my brother, who has just finished working in the Caribbean for a bank on the more well known island of Grand Cayman.

Getting a Caribbean Job IS attainable for people who put in the time and effort - and it does take more time and more effort than finding a job locally, however once you've worked in the Caribbean and experienced Caribbean life you will never forget it!

Feeling the chill? Imagine instead warm sunny blue skies and blue water every day. Single or married, it doesn't matter. Many employers will pay your way down and cover housing and/or living expenses. (last time I went down I took a wife and 2 kids) Hey, reality check - you DO have to work, but think about where you would be living!

Jobs in warm places

Just where is the Caribbean?

(if you're already familiar with the Caribbean - just skip this section)

For those who may not be aware; the Caribbean region is situated between North and South America, in what is often described as an Oceanic Tropical climate.
Within the Caribbean are all the islands you've heard about; Cayman, British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic, plus hundreds more you probably have not.
Average temperatures there are around 30 degrees Celsius or between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and water temperatures average around 27 Celsius or 80 Fahrenheit.

Is there a Caribbean Job for me?

There are essentially two types of work in the Caribbean:

  • Tourism/Hospitality - these are short-term, seasonal jobs where you can have some fun and work at a Caribbean hotel, beach club, dive shop, or other tourism type position. Examples of these kinds of jobs would be waitress, spa position, dive instructor, tour coordinator. These types of Caribbean jobs usually appeal to a younger or independent crowd.

  • Skilled - these are longer term contracts that utilize your deep skill (IT, Law, Insurance, Banking, etc) to supplement a skill that does not readily exist on the islands. Make great money, work hard, and have a good time! Examples of these types of jobs would be Lawyer, Accountant, IT Support, Software Developer, Sales Manager, or other skilled trades. If you have an established a career or trade then you may find working in the Caribbean in this capacity a new and exciting experience.

  • Fun Caribbean summer job - or longer-term contract opportunity? You decide, then begin your search for your ideal Caribbean Job.
