Building lenses for hair salons, massage therapists, and more!
This lens is put together with ideas you can use to create your own lens. Most of the content is geared towards sample text you can use, and notes used especially to describe the Squidoo process are in italics.
So kick back, have a view, then get busy setting up your OWN lens. I'm excited to see what you have in store!

Don't forget the basics
- How to find you. Provide a map and written directions with the Google Maps module. A photo of your storefront will make it easy to pick out your shop in a strip mall or busy Main Street.
- How to get a hold of you, to schedule appointments and ask questions.
- When you're available. Be sure to post hours for your shop.
- What you do. Spend some time explaining your services, and remember that not everyone may know what "ear candling" or a "brazilian wax" are.
- Who you are. Showing photos of your staff helps prospective customers feel comfortable about coming to visit. You can even have each employee create their own lens to show off photos of their work and client testimonials!
Our happy clients!
When it comes to services like nail art and hair design, your clients want to see photos before they take a risk on the real thing. The Flickr module is a great opportunity to show off your:
* bridal and prom up-dos
* kids haircuts
* photos of your studio
* photos of your staff
Learn more about using Flickr and adding your own images to your lens.
Did you love the music you heard today?
The Amazon module gives you a chance to sell products without having to carry the inventory in your store. Try the Cafepress and eBay modules, too!
Psst! I have a secret for independent stylists!

Let me tell you a little know secret about hair stylists, massage therapists, and the gal who does your nails. Even though these people usually work for a larger salon, they absolutely need to be promoting themselves!
Are you one of these people? Especially if you work on commission, or only work when you have a client, or work for tips, you should be doing everything you can to promote yourself as an individual business person. Why? Clients of this nature can be very loyal, and if you ever leave, they'll be sure to go with you. Plus, by going the extra mile to draw in customers, your parent store will see how hard you work to build your business. You might be your own spa or salon owner someday!
I don't know if this big guy has his own lens yet, but the photo is courtesy of w00kie and Creative Commons.
Tell us about your spa experience and say hi!
The guestbook gives your happy customers a place to talk about how great your services are. Be sure to put your Squidoo URL on your business cards or flyers so people can find your lenses.

- Thanks for this lens Kimberly! It came at the right time. Just last week I met with a friend's friend who opened a spa earlier this June and I told her about Squidoo and offered to help her with a Squidoo lens promoting her spa. I actually put together a Squid-School Lens for Squidoo New Squids to help them with lens creation and all that good stuff. Thanks!

- Great idea. I have been talking to a friend who has a Touring Company about making a lens about her Day Trips.
