This Is Carmen, One Of My Pit Bulls

I'm making this page about my pet Pit Bull, Carmen, because she's a breed that a lot of people are afraid of. I want to maybe get rid of some of the myths about her breed.

Carmen just turned 4 years old this year. She was bred by a reputable breeder of Pit Bulls. We don't have her papers, but we wish we did. She's beautiful, and very much the breed standard. My husband insists that he wants to breed her, because she would probably make some beautiful puppies, but we have to find a male that's just as exceptional as she is to do the job properly.

How we got Carmen

We got Carmen from one of my sister-in-law's friends. She was not raising her in a good way, and was about to get taken to an Animal Shelter. We already had one dog, but we agreed to take on another one. We wanted to save her. To this day, we have never regretted our decision, and we probably never will. I don't think I've ever seen a more loving dog.

I love Carmen because...

She's gorgeous, she has a lot of patience with my son, and she's just an all around great pet. She just loves to give everyone hugs and kisses, and she's as protective of the people in the house, as she is the other animals in the house. She has her mischevious moments, but what pet doesn't.

Famous Pit Bull Owners

We all know that the "Little Rascals" had a Pit Bull in the show. Here's a partial list of some other famous Pit Bull Owners. If you want to see the full list go here: www.trupitbull.com/FamousPeople.html

Helen Keller, Woodrow Wilson, Pink, Ashley Olsen (The Olsen Twins), Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Steve and Terri Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter), Rachael Ray, Orlando Bloom, Shaquille O'Neal, Judd Nelson, Michael J. Fox, Jessica Alba, John Stewart (The Daily Show), Brad Pitt, Theodore Roosevelt, 50 Cent.

Until I researched this, I didn't even know this many famous people had Pit Bull Terriers.

Yes, she's a pit bull but anyone that has one has seen pictures like the ones you see here. They're not as dangerous as some people think.

What's Your Opinion?

I think any breed of dog can be mean if it's not raised properly. Yes, Pit Bulls are somewhat dog aggressive, but the were bred specifically not to be people aggressive. They used to be used for fighting, so you didn't want your dog to bite you when you were trying to break up a fight. Besides that, she's great with my son.

Is it the owners or the breed?

It's the owners

Jerrad28 says:

definitely the owners at fault

OhMe says:

It is the owners. Pets respond to how they are treated, I think.

BrianS says:

I watch the dog whisperer as well and now realise it is almost certainly the owner rather than the dog that causes most behavioral problems. We have just adopted a rescue dog and he has some minor problems but hopefully nothing that can't be sorted out with a bit of love, attention and the right kind of discipline.

oops, sorry, lol. "goopsnug" was the captcha word i was given to make my entry, and i put it in the wrong spot, hehe...

It's the breed

This was an interesting blog post I found. It talks about a "Pit Bull" mix, that nobody wanted.

And another thing...

I wouldn't trade my Pit Bull for anything in the world. She's a great pet, and she's great with my other Pit Bull, and my cat.

By the way, any purchase made from this page turns into a donation to the ASPCA.

She Went Over The Rainbow Bridge

On March 21, 2011, my Carmen went over the rainbow bridge. We had her for five years, and we all wish it would have been longer, but cancer takes over, and it takes over fast.

Thanks for all the love you gave us for five years Carmen, and we will miss you. In honor of her passing, this page is going to stay just the way it was on the day I created it for her. Rest in Peace "Baby Girl."

Names please

Don't forget to leave your name and any comments you might have here. Just remember to keep them G-rated.

Very nice lens! I have three pit bulls and two children, ages 7 and 10. They are wonderful dogs, great with the kids, I wish more people knew this and did not judge them.
