MY GUESTBOOK

Share your furbabies with me in honor of Morgan.

From the lens THE DOG OF MY HEART - An English Springer Spaniel.

I have left HTML on for this guestbook. Please share a picture if you are so inclined of your furbaby and have a say too. Yes....cats are also welcome in this guestbook. :-) I'd love to hear a bit about your faithful furry friends. It helps to share at times like this.

Great lens, I agree dogs are our best friends.
Even though I've got a couple of great cats right now, I still remember loosing my first dog-friend about 34 years ago.
Memories that only die with us...

Morgan looks very handsome, we love animals, and animal lovers. we aquired a small dog (exact type unknown), from a rescue about a year ago, one day after she was to be put to sleep. very oppressed, afraid of sticks or straps, has a fantastic personality and lots of spirit now, living with us and Percy and Coco, our 2 cats.

We had a beagle in our family when the kids where younger. Gorgeous dog and always protected the kids, especially around snakes as we lived on a farm. RIP Blackie <3<3

I had a springer once, was one of the most loyal dogs ever. She was so active in the woods, I had a rough time keeping the burrs from her ears. Thinking about getting another puppy soon.

Look into Flat-Coated Retrievers; they were the ones that Golden Retrievers came from and their disposition is incredible! They have an easy-going temperament, are naturally obedient, and have an active, bonding relationship with one person, preferring to not go to other people like Golden's who love everyone. They are not mean, though, just indifferent to anyone but the one they 'pick'. Look on the AKC site for information about them. Ours lived until 16 years old and yes, he had hip problems the last couple of years of his life, but 16!

When i see this post, all i could remember is Rambo. The girl i love owns the dog and she loves it to her core. Sadly, she lost it a year ago. She was totally devastated. That when i started to like dogs even more than before.

Loved your girls. I also love the breed. My 1st spaniel(black/white) passed away a little over a year ago. She was almost 16. Emi was very hyper and loved people. She was my best friend. I now have a new spaniel-a tri roan. She is mostly black with tan and a very little bit of white. She is more laid back and such a joy. I don't know how to send a pic. God bless

I had a a puppy named jager and I recently had to give him a new home because I couldn't get a deposit in time before my landlords would take action he is a purebred long-haired apple-face chichuluha that has a great personality and he's a fast learner. I have pics and video of him learning all the new things out in the world. As soon as a figure out how to share the pics I will miss him lots but he has a wonderful family and he needed to be around lots of people not just me because he loves everyone. Michelle

  • joseloare Feb 21, 2012 @ 12:37 am | delete
I know how you feel. My first dog was name lucky. He was a German shepperd puppy. He likes to bark and ran away and neighbors complaint. I was surprise that my own cousin leaving few houses away was the responsible for my dog death. He place a bowl of meat with big seed in it and he choke. Then he lay down my dog close to a river stream for people to think he drown. I was 12 and that was devastating. I never had a dog since then until now. I have a white like a snow poodle. I name her princess. She really is our princess. We laugh about many thing she does. Is really a blessing having her in our life.

Nice photos, but I do not like this breed of dogs.
  • rainbowseeker Feb 15, 2012 @ 9:50 am | delete
Why is that? The line of Springers my Morgan and Subtle are from has excellent temperament and is known for their physical soundness as well. They are also very loving animals. Sorry you don't like this breed.....they have much to offer and are excellent family dogs in my opinion.

Morgan & Subtle are beautiful, as is your love and your tribute to Morgan. I got my first springer in 1974, and she had Hillcrest in her pedigree. I hope you've gotten a chance to try a little obedience, agility, and/or field with Subtle -- these doggy sports are SO much fun - to work with your dog as a team :-) You can do the "senior" level agility, called Performance or something like that, so you can start at the lower level to get used to it. In obedience, try Rally - it's easy and fun. Thank you for sharing your lovely girls with us.
    Hugs, Rhonda
  • rainbowseeker Dec 2, 2011 @ 10:31 am | delete
Thanks for your wonderful comment. Yes, Subtle and I have done some obedience, but she is 9 now so we are retired from agility. We are concentrating our efforts on finishing her Senior Hunter.....she has two legs now, but took a year off to try for some puppies (which was unsuccessful) so we are planning to finish Senior next Spring and hopefully put some legs on toward a Master Hunter title in the Fall. That is what she truely loves to do! She has been a lot of fun!

What a beautiful tribute! We lost our loving Australian Shepherd/Border Collie Mix, Oreo, in early 2010 and our sweet German Shepherd/Chow Mix, Ginger, a few months after that. He was 17 and she was 12 and yes, they were definitely part of our family. It was so heartbreaking to lose them, but I know in my heart we will be reunited one day. I believe they are faithfully waiting for us as they always have and will greet us with a joyful wag of their tails as they happily run to us and welcome us "home." Thank you for your inspiring story. I have wanted to do something as a tribute to my sweet loving dogs, and your story has encouraged me to write my own. God Bless and congratulations on your new addition to the family! :)

Nice! We had a cat named Pucky... But when moving we actually allowed him to go outside for a few minutes he didn't want to come in and then next thing we knew he was atacked by a neighborhood dog. Mind you we only lived in the area 3 days .. It was so SAD but the memories of our CAT Pucky will always be remembered.

Hi what a beautiful story..I love english Springers..We had a beautiful ESS and he passed away from cancer at 4.5 last april and he is also at rainbow bridge...My heart had been and still is devestated i cried everyday for my friend Bradley....last month we bought another ESS Bailey ,he is 14 weeks .Bailey will never replace bradley,ever...He has thought hepled heal my soul from heartache...
Your story has moved me to tears and my heart remembers the pain and loss of letting our friends go..This time we sought after a bench springer,Bradley was a field springer..
Bradley had been the sweatest gentle dog one could only wish for...He would never hurt a fly...Bailey is a pup full of energy he loves to walk and play and catch. He is beautiful and I love him....He wants to be with us always..I hope this time we have our springer for a long time.... Thanks for your beautiful story and poem...

reading on this post, i missed my dog Rusty. He was so smart, playful and savior. He was been with us for just three years. I remembered, how he saved my life from a snakebite when I was sleeping calmly. I just woke up with a surprise seeing the dead little snake beside me. Then, I hear my dog bark and howl, I understood him, he was telling me his heroine act. Maybe, without him i might had bitten by the snake. He used to wait for me at my gate. He never leave the gate til I arrived home from work. My sons could tell I was coming because of his bark even if I was still very far from home. NOt only me, if he found that one of my members of my family was not yet at home, he never left at the gate and remained there waiting. We were sad when he was gone, I was going to work at that time when he followed me til drive way, as if bidding his last goodbye. I never knew that he followed me til on the road, i saw him on the side mirror, i came back, he was happy to see me going back, he crossed the street, since I was on the other lane, I saw a car coming, i shouted, he was hit by a car and died. We were so sad and we missed him..Rusty, you will always be remembered.

This lens made me cry. I have been a Coal miner all my adult life and a Certified EMT. I was on the mine rescue team for a long time. I don't consider my self a woose, but when I am down, my Springer can always make me smile.
I know she is just a dog, but she is my best friend and she knows me better than I know myself. I hope someday to become just half the man that my dog thinks that I am.
She is getting old and althoe I can treat wounds and help others, I feel so helpless when she moans as she struggles to get up.

Any one who has not been blessed with a friend so dear has truely missed out on the true meaning of life. I don't know what I would do without Cassie she gives her all and expects just what time I have in return.
This dog would give her life for me in an instant, she wouldn't even think twice. Devotion like that you couldn't even buy. I am so sorry for your loss, but you must get another because you will make another Springer smile like you made this one do.
They see in us the things we can not see in our selves and even thoe they leave too soon our lives are much fuller and we are better people with each Springer that we share our hearts with. I don't know how to leave you a picture, but if you know maybe you could share with me and I will be back with a photo of Cassie.
This is a fantastic lens by the way, I give it two thumbs up! Thanks for shareing.

It was his last day there and our friends daughter called up and asked if we'd take him. We did. We feel very blessed and this new dog acts very similar to our dearly departed.

  • Karmen Jul 15, 2010 @ 5:02 pm | delete
this was sooo nice! (: We had our black and white english springer spaniel Tasha euthanized in May before her thirteenth birthday. We miss her dearly. My daughters grew up with her and were heartbroken when we lost her. We have now deciced that another springer is in order. We have already picked her out, and our liver, white and tan springer will be ready to come home in 19 days. I think they will be some of the longest days I've ever lived. We are all very excited to bring her home especially the girls because they were too young to remmebr what Tasha was like when she was just a puppy, so essentially they have never even had a puppy. We are trying to think of names so if you have any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. So far we have Penny and Piper. Also, she will be a hunting dog, so any hunting names could be good too.
    Thanks (:
  • rainbowseeker Jul 15, 2010 @ 5:22 pm | delete
Oh that is so neat! I'd look at your puppies parents registered names for ideas...or even wait a bit and see what sounds the puppy responds best too. Subtle got to be Subtle because there was nothing subtle about her at all or her coloring. Have fun and good luck with your puppy!
  • Karmen Jul 15, 2010 @ 9:37 pm | delete
We probablly will end up waiting until we have her and know her personality to choose a name that fits. When we met her she was just sleeping, (they had full tummies form just being fed), so waiting to see how she behaves should help us choose the right name. I really like the name Subtle, its so original. And also checking out the parent names is a great idea! (: Thanks alot. How is Sublte doing anyways? You said she hunts? Does she hunt birds?
  • rainbowseeker Jul 15, 2010 @ 9:43 pm | delete
Hi..Yes she hunts pheasant and works pigeons or quail.....whatever happens to be the feathers of the day. I'd love to talk more with you. Please feel free to e-mail me. There is a link on the top of the lens. If you click it we can get in touch. :-)
  • Karmen Jul 15, 2010 @ 9:43 pm | delete
Waiting to see what she is like is probablly the best idea. Wew want a name that suits her personality well. I really like the name Sublte its very original. I might also check out the parents names like you said. Thanks so much. I was wondering, hows Sublte doing? and you said she hunts ? is she a bird dog?
  • rainbowseeker Jul 15, 2010 @ 9:51 pm | delete
Subtle recently got the first leg of her senior hunter. In a week she will go for the second leg and we hope to finish her with two more legs in Sept. Next spring I will take her for her master hunter. She is steady and ready for that except for understanding a blind water retrieve. We're working on that...LOL. She's also very flashy in the field and has an unbelievable nose and a true hunters heart. Love to talk more dogs with you so please contact me. :-)

Thanks for sharing. Your tribute made me cry and having been there myself it helps to know others share my feelings for a lost friend. My sister just lost her Teddy, a standard poodle. He went unexpectedly and quickly and left a hole in the whole family's heart. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing this sweet beautiful tribute to Morgan. I love the picture of her walking down the path.

My dogs are so special to me, my Shiba Inu, Tess and my tiny precocious little Rat Terrier, Zoey. My heart was broken almost eight years ago when we lost our Chocolate Lab, Zack. Even after this much time I still miss him terribly. I think Tess does too, they were best buddies for so long. Zoey came after to help fill the empty space Zack left. Not in size, of course!

I really enjoyed reading your lens, thanks again for sharing and congratulations on a well deserved LotD.

I love your lens. I have a springer spaniel, he is only 4 months old and frankly.. I have questioned whether I made the right choice. He is very high energy... and with two small children it really is quite a challenge. I have to admit I have not warmed upto him like I have animals in the past... until this last week or so as he is turning a corner. I am now realizing how wonderful he will be. After reading your lens and shedding buckets of tears, I know I must be warming up to him.

I know how hard it is when you lost a furbaby. I have lost many special little souls over the years. You have some wonderful photos of her.

I know that someday you will meet with Morgan as you too cross the Rainbow Bridge. Know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Beautiful Story. My little girl was Isabelle who passed away last October very suddenly in our eyes. I had written a poem for her as well and found it helped a little but I strongly believe it's one of the hardest things we have to go through - losing a pet. All those silly things that she did now make us laugh and miss her. The picture is her last camping trip and getting to enjoy the lake. Their unconditional love is something to strive for.

Great lens and I am so sorry for your loss.
My first dog, he will always be my favorite, was Ranger. He was a schnauzer chow mix and he was the best. At 8 weeks he was already mostly housebroken and was the sweetest orneriest pup you could find. I fell in love with him when I went with my brother to pick out a dog for him and his wife, this little fella was nipping at my toes(I was wearing flip-flops) and would not leave me alone.
My parents would not let me have a pet but my brother knew I loved him so he got him for me and my parents said I could keep him!
He really became my Moms dog after my Dad passed away, so I left him there to keep her company when I married and had a home of my own.
He also was 13 when we lost him in 1998. I still look for him though when I go to my Moms.
    Sorry this is so long!

I enjoyed reading about Morgan and how much she meant to you. I am an animal lover myself, but have kept to cats because of their low maintenance. However, I recently took on the challenge of caring for my father who is 88. While I was at a nearby farm products store I saw a family giving away free puppies. I had to check them out. I thought he might be a companion for my father. Well, in moments I was walking around the farm store with "Cowboy" in my arms getting supplies for his care. I was told he was half Border Collie and half Cocker Spaniel. He is about five months old now and he has very long legs and huge ears. A friend suggested that he might be part Springer Spaniel. He is very active and very loyal. I hope he becomes the loving pet that yours was to you.

What a lovely tribute to your beautiful springer, Morgan. I have an English Springer Spaniel who is now over 12 years old and I feel so sad when I take her out. She used to be a typical springer, racing around like a maniac, chasing balls, birds, squirrels, butterflies, anything. Tearing through long grass, thickets and hedges, her heritage of 'springing game' coming to the fore. In the last year she has aged a lot. She has arthritis and doesn't run much anymore. She prefers a stroll and occasionally will break into a trot. She still seems happy enough and not in pain but she probably aches a lot sometimes. One of my fondest memories is of Saffy waiting outside our back door in the garden with a full range of her toys in front of her just in case one of us came out and wanted a game. She liked to make sure we had a choice to tempt us. Who could resist?

Thank you for your very moving lens. I hope the good memories you have of Morgan are a comfort to you now.

    The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal who has been especially close to someone dies, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

Animals who were ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them from times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one thing: they miss someone very special to them; the person they left behind.

All of the animals run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are focused and his eager body quivers. Suddenly he breaks away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Now you cross the Rainbow Bridge together%u2026

What a wonderful tribute to your fur-baby who has crossed that bridge. We lost Max on a Monday in early April of this year. He was also very loved and very loving. Max was a friend to all who met him, and was a rescue who loved to be loved and also enjoyed his snacks, treats and food! I am quite certain Max was there to great Morgan, and to show Morgan around and where the cool places are. Our hearts still ache for Max and our house was too still. We went and rescued a new addition to our family - Layla. She's a german shepherd mix who had been overlooked for 9 months for smaller, younger puppies. She's a sweet girl and is very grateful to have a new family and permanent home. Cherish those happy memories and know that Morgan is always with you - in spirit! Great job with your lens!

Oh my goodness! Nothing I could say can compare with your beautiful testimony to Morgan. Your pictures are awesome and so fitting for an awesome friend. May the Creator bless her and you!

    Jim & Joanie,
    You are in my prayers.
I'm waiting, as I am sure you are, to be greeted by all our faithful companions that have gone over The Rainbow Bridge.
I'm sure they are eagerly waiting for us, eyes full of love, tails wagging, rear ends wiggling in, anticipation of that great reunion.
Hopefully Morgan has met my Irish by now and they can share stories, memories, and time together as you & Jim & I have done over the years.
    Take Care My Friends.

I tried several times to read your lens but the tears sliding down my cheeks kept clouding my vision. I hurt so much for you and Jim, only time will help heal some of the hurt and aching pain you are feeling.
Morgan was a special dog for sure. So sweet and and gentle, yet she had a tad of mischief in her.
When she played she was happy and loved her toys. Some lasted longer than others. I am so glad we could give her a moment of pleasure with giving her the silly slammer toy, They must have them at Rainbow Bridge for any of our furry friends to play with..

Thank you so much for reading my lens and for blessing me and Morgan. I still really miss her, but I've got my focus now and this lens has helped alot with that. I have found another picture to add which I will in a day or two and I joined a group and the group leader made me a co-manager so I am really now hoping to inspire some more tribute lenses. It really is great to share you memories.....it makes you remember all the good times. Again....thank you so much for taking the time to read my lens. Sincerely, Joanie

I think being the Guardian Angel of the "Animals and nature" topic sets me up (along with my fellow Guardians) for more tears shed over our lenses than any other topic.

As someone who has had cats and still has dogs, I think I know a bit of what you are feeling at this moment in time. I am so sorry for your loss but I know that in time you will smile more than you cry.

Blessings to you and your beautiful Morgan.

    With love

Our Mack went to Rainbow Bridge just over a year ago and we still miss him terribly.
Here's a side of dogs that hopefully most people don't see. Little children have come into our house, some for a short stay and some to become members of our family. I have seen the hurt and pain in their eyes. They have been betrayed by adults and their feelings of abandonment run deep. I am convinced dogs pick up those feelings. Mack was wonderful with children. He knew the word 'mind' and given that command he would snuggle up to a child and in a very short time the child had a friend who stayed by his or her side. We have two new dogs now and we are delighted to see that they too take extra care of children. We had a little boy stay with us last weekend who had'nt been with us for quite a while and we were surprised to hear him ask for Mack and although we felt pangs of pain it was awesome to see that boy down on the carpet hugging one of our new dogs.

This is a great homage to a clearly great dog, Morgan. Thank you for sharing stories, which made her come to life. She is and will be greatly missed by you and your family/friends. Grieving is painful, and the pain underscores your emotional connection. You gave Morgan a happy home and her presence enriched your lives.
