My Squidoo Dream Board

I was truly inspired to write this lens after reading all of the wonderful bucket list lens I have read and after reading Jewelsofawe My Vision Board. A while back I started a bucket list lens, but somehow my heart was not into writing it, so I deleted it. My vision Squidoo Lens may be a bit different than others but none the less they are my dream goals.

I have never considered myself to be a materialist person, EVER. I learned during our Homestead Journey that being materialist falls under a lot of different categories. I am going to be perfectly honest about something, there are two things that living without is very hard to do (1) living in a HOT area without an air conditioner or means to cool yourself off and (2) A flushing toilet!! Go ahead and laugh, it is okay. I understand that those two things are over looked every day and we have become accustomed to having them, so going from having an air conditioner and flushing toilet to not have them is a hum-dinger of an adjustment!!

I know the difference between my wants and my needs and sometimes I step over the line and purchase wants that I really don't need-(but we all do that sometimes I believe). But I have one huge "Want" and "Need" that I will start my Dream Vision with. So with that being said, here are is my Dream Goal List.

Building Log-Cabins

Loading

Number One on my Dream Vision List

type=textMy husband and I owning a log cabin in the mountains in a wooded area. Inside our cabin I would love to have a big kitchen with a huge pantry where I can store my stock pile items. I would like to have an island counter so when I make bread I can have a good working space. I would like to have a large Kitchen window overlooking my garden and a window that brings enough light in to make the kitchen feel inviting. Two MUST HAVES (1) Air Conditioner or Fan to cool the cabin (2) Yep, you guessed it..a flushing toilet!!

I consider myself very lucky to be married to a person who has very similar taste as mine. We both have had this dream of living in the mountains in a log cabin for a very long time. I actually sketched out my cabin about 30 years ago, and kept it safe as a gentle reminder that one day I will have it.

The picture in this module is an actual picture of the Honeymoon Cabin we stayed in when we got married. I wrote about Our Wedding Adventure here if you would like to take a look. This cabin is very rustic, very simple and very heavenly to us. If we had our way, instead of staying there only for a weekend, we would actually live there if we could. There is nothing but mountains surrounding you and it is so silent, peaceful and relaxing.

The Aurora Borealis

I have always wanted to see "The Aurora Borealis"

type=textThis has been a dream of mine forever and a day. To see this magical event is beyond what any words can describe. I would like to take photos of it and sit there cuddled in blanket watching this amazing beauty. If it is anything like I envision, it would be a perfect example of time and space with the Aurora Borealis dancing across the skies. Just like the morning my husband and I walked outside of our cabin Queen Ann's Lace and it was early in the morning; the only sounds you were heard was Natures song. The smell of the air was fresh, cool, crisp mountain air-it gave you the kind of feeling of being so Thankful and Blessed to be able to experience it.

Other places I would like to go!!

I will admit, I am addicted to Squidoo

type=textFebruary 8, 2010 I will be here at Squidoo starting my third year. In the first year, I made Giant Squid in 2009 I made it into the Giant Squid 100 Club and January 2010 I had a wish come true and I am a SquidAngel. So where do I go from here?

Third on my Dream Goal List is to improve my lenses! Its not that I do not work at them all of the time, because I do. But I still have A LOT to learn as far as promoting them, using the right tags, gathering visitors and increasing sales. I have never really looked at the monetary aspect of Squidoo until a few months ago. Giving up my regualr salary job to work full time online has been an extreme adventure. Its not bad enough being an Artist and having an online business, but writing too to generate an income is a HUGE ADVENTURE. I know many women feel as I do, making your own income is a very important part of who you. It is the independance of having that paycheck.

Since I had an increase in the money I made the second year with Squidoo, I want to increase that figure even more at the end of 2010. I want to continue to grow my online business and I would love to get another contract from another (or the same) publication company as I did in 2009. So increasing the income I make with my online business, increasing sales of my Artwork and increasing the amount I make on Squidoo is something I am adding to my list.

Health

type=textThis is a MUST for my list. Let's be honest-how often do we really think about our health unless we are faced with something? In my case to be perfectly honest, not often. When I wrote The Silent Killer it was a like this huge shock wave over shadowed me. It is a lens about my experience with High Blood Pressure. Now I can add High Cholesterol to this journey. I wrote on that lens "Life really does not end when you have this, it is just a wakeup call that you need to improve your health."

I have never really used much salt in my food-but none the less, I started creating many different recipes that are no-sodium, low-sodium. I write a little about on this lens: Heath and Nutrition-Eating Habits. The one thing that stands in my way is Exercise I hate it. I have a really hard time motivating myself to do it and I am really, really tried of my Doctor getting onto me about NOT excerising. Somehow, I need to find a way to do it, and yet have figured out how to do that. I was really enjoyed doing Yoga, but the Doc said that really is not considered excerise??? Of course like everything else, I argued with him about it.

So for short term goals, I need to really focus on this health and increasing the financial aspect of my goals.

Simplicity by WhiteOaksPhotos

Sometimes I will get this idea in my head, and that idea turns into a goal, and that goals turns into a MUST ACCOMPLISH TASK. I have always loved photography, but not like I do today. My motto (even on my business cards) is: Beauty seen through the lens of a camera

Working with my camera almost feels like a drug. If I do not shoot pictures on a regular base I become unsettled and/or uneasy. It is so hard to explain. Anyway, I have set a goal for myself for this year and I want more than anything to have my photography published in a magazine. I got the courage up one day and sent out a few emails to publishers and got a few replies back, some rejections and one good lead. Unfortunately that lead wanted something other than what I submitted. But they did suggest that the article along with my photography would be great in a travel magazine. But I was not sure if they were just being nice so I did not do anything about it (yet).

I have been spending A LOT of time and energy trying to get everything in order. I have been working on my online portfolio at Behance Network. I have opened up a WhiteOak's Photography at Zazzle. I have joined so many groups I am a little lost. I have wrote several blogs, a Squidoo Lens about My Accomplishments.

So like Correen always says, I just keep on Keeping on!! When it comes to Dreams you have to be consistent.

This is the first time I have seen this lens. I was happy to see I inspired you. You inspire me too! The log cabin sounds wonderful. I went a large beautiful home myself with a walk in closet and a kitchen with an island in it. I want a new car too. I have never owned a brand new car. I know what you mean about working toilets and air conditioning. My ex who I am back with once lived in a trailor when we were married with of course no air conditioning. It was awful. We would go out for frozen yogurt or the grocery store just to cool off on those days. It would get 120 in southern CA out in Riverside so would roast.

I love your bucket list, so down-to-earth and sincere. We reach a certain point in our lives when we start seeing what is really important. But flushing toilets will always be on my list, too!

Oh Eva you and hubby must move up to our neck of the woods...in fact there is a perfect spot at the top of our property that you could build your log cabin. The best would be us growing a garden, making Squidoo pages together and getting to chat 'til the moon told us it was time to sleep! I love your dream list!

As a UK resident, we DO have a flushing loo but having air con is not on my list of priorities, but I would not mind a log cabin and a trip to see the Aurora Borealis!

Lovely lens and it is nice to get to know you better through this list. Lovely and lensrolled to my own 10 things I want to do lens.

Aj, thank you so much for your comment. I love to hear people from the UK refer to the Toilet as a loo. Perhaps we can all gather a group of Squidooers together and all go see the Aurora Borealis together- wouldn't it be wonderful.

You know as I read this, the one word that came to mind was precious! I know that is a strange adjective for this lens, but it just fit what I was thinking. Such simplicity! I agree with everything you said and I think we should all plan a trip to Alaska. I have always dreamed of seeing the Aurora Borealis and that cabin is perfect, as long as it has air conditioning/heat and indoor plumbing:) Angel Blessed and added to my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens.

This is another great lens from you Eva! I have never seen the Aurora Borealis either so that's certainly going on my bucket list too (by the way, that was sweet of your husband to get you an Aurora Borealis ring! That way you get to carry it with you all the time.) (:

I don't have a dream lens yet....maybe soon. It is a great idea. I have a vision board but forget to update it.

I did live in a house without running water and only a wood stove for heat. It was great until the kids came along. I swore when we moved into our mobile home that had 2, count them, 2 flush toilets, I would never complain about cleaning them. But after awhile, the novelty wears off.

My main dream right now is to get to the point where we can buy and RV and just drive around the country, writing Squidoo lenses as I go.

Here's a toast to achieving our dreams and great friends. Thanks for your support.

Same thing here-we two moved here and purchased a Mobile Home with two bathrooms! To this day-I clean the bathrooms without any complaining AND believe it or not considered very blessed to have a light switch.

Toast to you and also once again, congratulations for LOTD it was well deserved!

Absolutely beautiful! I've thought about making a bucket list lens but like you, my dreams don't match the norm. You're right about one thing, AC is vital to us southerners and toilets are mandatory. Once we boot the youngest out of the house, we plan on down-sizing. Our big goal-debt free and living within our means.
    Five stared and favored.

That sounds like a very good plan Lizzy. I totally agree about the AC-we were in Missouri when we homesteaded, it was 105 degrees and I just could not adapt to it.

Well, I have many dreams and goals but haven't per se taken the time to put them into one bucket list. Have always thought I'd like to live in a log cabin and for sure see the Aurora Borealis !!!
