Days of Our Lives

Usually we have an idea where a writer is planning to go with a character. But I've got to admit, I'm perplexed about Sami. Not only do I not know where the writers are going with her, I'm not sure what I want for her anymore. I always felt Lucas was her soul mate. Way back in the beginning with the whole Austin/Carrie thing in their teens, I thought, "why don't these two realize how much they have in common and fall in love". I figured eventually it would come out that both twins belonged to Lucas and pave the way for their reunion. I still thought that was possible even at the beginning of this new pregnancy story line. I thought somehow it would turn out she wasn't really pregnant , but through whatever was really wrong with her, the real paternity of Johnny would come out. But apparently, she is really going to be pregnant. She's having another baby with EJ, Lucas has moved on, and she and Lucas are in this whole "friends" phase. Reminds me of Marlena who moved on from love of her life Roman to new love of her life John, but remained on good terms with the father of some of her kids, Roman. Anyway, EJ seems to care more about the baby than Nicole, and I'm thinking Nicole will miscarry with the cramping she's experiencing. Because of the whole Colleen, Santo story line (remember how Luis and Sheridan were suppose to be together in past lives on Passions? When that's written into a story line, it just kind of makes you pull for that couple. That's why I wish Passions had remained on the air long enough to redeem Sheridan, reunite her with Luis, and Fancy to find happiness elsewhere) as well as liking the connection Sami & Lucas still have (although not a Chloe fan, find him someone else!), I decided I'd be okay with Sami & EJ. But just as I think I've decided the writers are headed for Ejami connection, ex Luis from Passions is brought in as a new character in Sami's life. Is he going to be her NEW love interest? You know, I think I'd be okay with that too. My sister and I, "sort of fans" of Passions, tried to like Luis and Sheridan, but were amazed at how stupid they were. (Anybody remember when Beth kidnapped Sheridan? Once she escaped the basement to stumble around the room blindfolded while police detective Luis visited with Beth in the same room and never noticed a thing!) We wondered if the acting was a measure of their true talent or a result of the loopy show. I think Galen Gherig has more talent than we thought if the few episodes of Days so far is any indication. And of course, it doesn't hurt that he is SO easy on the eyes.

Okay, if Nicole steals Sami's baby, I'm done. I am a Sami fan, not a big Nicole fan. Even though I like Sami, I am also not a fan of her wacky ideas. Especially the one about giving her baby to the orphanage. But even though it's stupid, it's motivated by love and concern for her child. If it ends up that her nemesis gets the baby to raise with the man Sami is trying to protect her baby from (and may also love to further complicate things), well it will just be too much for me. I keep thinking Stefano must know the truth. But then it dawned on me that he would be supportive of Nicole taking Sami's baby because he would still get the heir, but not the troublesome mother.

Okay, Days crossed the line today, even for a soap opera. Danielle has been with Kate and her granddaughter, Chelsea. And now he's developing a major flirtation with her future daughter in law, Chloe. And was anyone else grossed out when he examined Chloe today? UGH! UGH! UGH! I never want to go to the doctor again!
Of course I don't know what else to expect. I mean they're obviously moving Chelsea and Max back together. Hello? Can Max possibly date someone other than his neices? I mean I know he's adopted so it's not a blood relation, but still. Chelsea is his brother's daughter and Stephanie is his sisters. Ugh again.
You know, I love Sami. I root for her in spite of herself. But can't they just tone her down or grow her up a little? Does she always have to go off the deep end and take the low road?
And lastly, who makes the makeup decisions for the actress who plays Kate? I know as a former makeup artist she usually does her own makeup. So is it her decision or the powers that be at Days that have her in a hospital bed fighting cancer in full make up, including lip gloss!!!

...I hate the Kate storyline. She is so not laying in that hospital bed with perfect makeup and hair. I noticed today she even had on lip gloss!! It makes the story line so unrealistic that it's hard to watch...

...I can't believe that instead of unlikeable newbie Melanie being the murderer, it's going to Nick. Of course the storyline is interesting, but I hate to see Nick go bad...

...John and Marlena are leaving the show?!!!...

I love Days, but sometimes I get a little tired of how its all in the family. First, there was the years of Sami and her sister, Carrie switching partners with brother Austin and Lucas. Now Sami's ex EJ is hooking up with Lucas' ex Nicole. Who by the way, use to date Sami's twin, Eric and her step brother, Brady. Brady's ex, Chloe has also dated brothers Philip and Lucas. Then Belle couldn't decide between Shaun and his uncle (and ex best friend) Phillip. Chelsea has shared boyfriends with her mother and her grandmother, and dated Max her adopted uncle. Max is now dating another adopted niece. Sometimes it's enough to make me go ugh!

I've never been a big John fan. I've liked the character in the sense that he is the hero, or good guy. Personally, though, he really bothered me. I realize it wasn't really his fault, but I felt badly that he stole Roman's life. Roman and Marlena had a good marriage and if Stefano had never interferred in their lives, they would have probably grown old together. But after convincing Marlena and John that he was her lost husband, Roman, well that kind of ruined the marriage since Marlena and John fell in love. Anyway, I've really hated the "new" John since Stefano has yet again played with his life and he doesn't remember who he is. But the "new I'm trying to be nice because I finally realized I love Blondie" John is actually kind of fun.
