I have created many websites over the 10 years I have been creating websites. They first started as places to share what I was doing when I was teaching.  TeachersNewslink

They started as a diary and replaced letter writing as I got busier.  This was my very first Yahoo group. Newslink

They then became places to share my Travels...Travel

My art and photos and online display Galleries ....   Desert Art

Photograhs ....  Webshots, Photo Unlimited, Flikr, Kodak Gallery, Snapfish, Yahoo, Photo net

And finally they became repositories for the Courses I was teaching and each year for the last 5 years, I have created a new site for the students I was teaching....the newest being the Moodle which has podcasts, videos and all the latest technology to date    Active English

And a Gallery with DigiArt and favourite Poetry    Ladymaggic

You can say I am a true hoarder and collector of websites.

I became passionate about creating websites when I started living in the deserts and isolated places, where there was nothing to do after work except watch TV or use the Computer. I realised I could share my knowledge and Learnings with more than just my class, and it was easier to create and share websites, instead of one photo or one link.

Some of the past ones need editing, but they are also a record of what I was doing them, so after trying to edit Desert Art, I decided to leave it as it is.

ESL Teaching in China

Links used when Teaching University students in Wuhan China

http://M-carstairs.com/eslteachinginchina

I travelled to China in 2002 to take up the position as Head of English at the School of Administration at Wuhan University in the Hubei Province of China. The University was a massive campus where students lived in dormitories and studied in class rooms along the stairways of the Dormitory Buildings.

Everywhere there was dignity. Teachers are treated with respect and my position was treated with the respect of the task. I was guest of Honor at numerous feasts and banquets and was introduced to some very imposing and important personages who treated me with the perfect manners China is famous for. I was feasted, admired, treated with respect and I made many friends and was welcomed everywhere.

Desert Art

Photographs and Art created in the Australian Desert 1998-2003

http://M-carstairs.com/desertart

Perth to Broome along the coast Road is a distance of 3000 kms with towns spaced about 600 kms apart...with sheer, dry, red desert inbetween and inland.

Driving is a daunting experience if you are not used to the heat, and even if you are...but you see and experience some magnificent barren outback desert land.

The Desert Communities are like small concentrated associations of indigenous in the inland, and mixed cultures on the coastal towns. This is an experience that challenges, and the art that comes out of this land is as experiential as the land itself, rich in the colors of the earth, and often created out of the earth itself.

I have lived and explored the Outback for a decade, and my work is my feeling about what I have seen and experienced. The photographs are my expression and through them you will share my experiences of the Deserts and what is known as The Outback Regions of Australia.

Photography is more than a hobby for me. It's a passion, the way I capture and celebrate life. In this album, I've assembled some of my favorite photographs.

Have your own photo added to a digital image or redesigned as a poster or Digi Painting. Have a special memory recorded forever as Art.

Travel

Travelling with a Camera

http://ladymaggic.tripod.com/travel/

You ask why I travel so much...the answer is simple...'As long there is a plane to catch, a place to go and some money to spend or earn, I have to go. It is like a lemming to his doom, a compulsion, that never lets me stay long in one place.
I must keep travelling as long as I am able.
I know I was born under a wandering star." (Maggi Carstairs)

"We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend......a place to rest your head at night, and a well filled belly..." (RL Stevenson)

"Whenever I prepare for a journey I prepare as though for death. Should I never return, all is in order."
(Katherine Mansfield)

Great Wall China

Squidoo Travel Winner

http://www.squidoo.com/greatwallchina

Walking the Great Wall in Winter.

Walking is a total pleasure as you can see on either side and the mountains stretch down for a long way. You couldn't actually see over the wall. I had to walk from one side to the other, and peer over the wall, to see what was below and ahead on either side.

The wall is wide enough in the main parts, for 10 chinese soldiers to march abreast in formation, or for 6 mounted soldiers on horseback, so it is a good size. The Book I bought on the Great Wall, says that one man could control 10,000 soldiers from the wall. It does not quite say exactly how, but I imagine, he would be able to quite easily see an army of 10,000 marching forward, as it would have done in those days. It would have been an awesome sight.

Climbing up to each Tower was an awesome experience.

There were very few tourists on the wall this day, and we virtually had the entire wall and view to ourselves, which was just awesome

Hi Maggi,

The work you have done on these websites is truly amazing. The research shows in the level of detail and resource materials used in your sites?

I launch my own website in Aug 2006.
