My pumpkin carving experience
I enjoy Halloween, especially for the kids. It is a lot of fun to get them dressed up, go out and get a bunch of candy. They have so much fun which makes it enjoyable for the parents. I usually let them pick out a couple of small pumpkins to paint or decorate while I pick out a big one that I will carve.
So I went and picked out the nicest pumpkin I could find, which is difficult for me it has to be perfect. I drive everybody nuts with how perfect it has to be, Christmas trees I am worse but that is another story. So now I bring it home and took a couple days to finally decide what I am going to carve in the pumpkin. Usually I pick something difficult that takes a while to do but this time I went simple. Well I got it carved on Sunday, we lit it Sunday night for the kids and they were all excited! Later on Sunday night I hear something on my back deck, not unusual we get neighborhood cats, and didn't think much of it. When I went outside Monday morning I found that an animal had gotten to the pumpkin! It started to claw at the eyes :( I was not happy, I just carved it! However when I looked at it again I realized that it actually looked kind of cool with the claw marks by the eyes, it is Halloween. And at least you don't even notice it when the candle is lit at night so it is all good. Maybe the animal thought it needed a finishing touch!
Here is what it looks like now
Here is a picture of what my pumpkin looks like after it was so violently attacked! At least it looks good still when you light the candle, that's the important thing. Well if I had picked a complicated design and spent hours on it I would have been a little bit more disturbed.
