What is it about French women that embodies the word "style", how is it that the Parisian woman, no matter what her age or body shape, displays a sense of self and a strong sense of being a woman.
Christian Louboutin who was born and raised in Paris said, " La Parisienne is not labeled as Blonde or brunette, a career woman or a lady of leisure. Her voice is important and she carries her allure with a certain nonchalance, which answers to her natural elegance".
The French woman is unfaithful to fashion & its designers. This is why she can remain faithful to something much more important, her own personal style. She likes to create her own & not be at the mercy of the latest trend.
It is not about wearing brands it is about her own creation picked up here and there and well assembled together.
In France or elsewhere you do not have to be rich to look good. You can mix both expensive & inexpensive items and just look fabulous. I believe that French women are very creative at mixing and have an eye for what's appropriate or not appropriate to wear.
A pair of jeans with a simple cashmere sweater and a pair of loafers is a great look and feels very comfortable. Simplicity is key to dressing well as well as confidence in oneself, this is how I perceive women in France.

You can always wear the same piece of clothing for day & evening simply by changing the accessories.When asked about where to go and shop, Carole Rochas ( Chic in Paris), answered that she did not wear brands ( no surprise here for a French woman). she said," what I love is going to Zara where you can always find gorgeous things" . Zara , carries sweaters, blouses, shoes and coats. Mango has beautiful sweaters and very well cut as well as soft. I personally know that if you live in San Francisco, the "Westfield mall has both Zara and Mango stores". So, Carole Rochas who designs one-kind-of jewelry pieces for private clients mixes both high end designs with Zara & mango accessories.

French women have a pretty simple and creative sense of fashion. They constantly mix clothing with accessories from head ( jewelry) to toes ( shoes). They go to different stores to create their own style and they love to share their secrets of where to go and where to get the deals.

There are so many stores in Paris some very well known locally and internationally and some not so well known. I shop everywhere and will avoid Chanel , Hermes all together and go shop in stores where you can find Chanel , Hermes and Prada at a much more affordable prices.
