Supporting the Arts while moving the Economy
non-filmmakers to upload their property for filmmakers to rent out for production. Their property could be anything from their run-down apartment to their Porsche; Locations or props.
They will earn 100% profits and filmmakers will get to barter with them direct. This could mean non-monetary compensation as well, such as free concert tickets, gear/clothes, a chance to work on the movie, anything that can be swapped!
As you know there are union-protected location scouts and business-driven databases that either charge a listing fee or take a commission too high for student and indie producers. That's why we have created a network that let's you do it yourself!
Information Resources
MyLocationScouts will be free to list and free to search. We will also provide a "How To" section that will educate people to be "their own location scout" AND create a Film Friendliness scale that will rank all 50 states based on their incentive programs and provisions. This will also be a means to promote or protest the local efforts. So our Governors hear us loud and clear that "WE NEED YOU ON OUR SIDE!"
Community
Other than film and video, we appeal to photographers, music video producers, artists, and any other kid/adult/senior citizen with a consumer camera and a laptop to edit and stream off of.

The entertainment industry has been revolutionized by the introduction of consumer-accessible video cameras and video streaming and hosting sites like Youtube and Atom Films. Today, an independent feature can be written on Final Draft ($190), shot on a DVX camera (rental per day:$250) and edited on a personal computer with final cut pro. Budgets for features have declined due to the popularity of digital videography over film. The number of films
have increased since the launch of Youtube and similar sites in 2005 because now there are places to screen them.
An independent production can be used as a pitch in hopes of being picked up by network television like CHUCK (created by a college student and picked up by NBC) or distributed like The Blair Witch Project (The film cost $22,000 to make and made back $240.5 million). Youtube confirms this trend: "The explosion in consumer devices with video capability is giving users control over the videos they record, watch, and share..."

The Power of the Internet
In a perfect world, encompassed in the black hole we call the internet - there is a white cloud named MyLocationScouts.com -- and here you can find resources that are easily accessible and fairly priced. In the year 2008, this cyberworld explodes with users and sends a sonic boom reaction down to the real world:
1. Assisting the Art Community
Musicians: make higher quality music videos
Artists: promote their work by renting it out
as set decorations on productions
(and possibly selling it later)
Photographers: Have more space options AND can
do a TFP deal with the property owner
Students: comfortably write more elaborate
thesis projects. Instead of settling
for stories that revolve around
their resources.
Independents: save money on scouting to use
it for the script and camera.
2. Keeping the Economy in Motion
According to the Motion Picture Association of America, "When a major studio shoots a big budget film on location, that can mean $225,000 per day to the local economy."Thus There will be more employment opportunities for restaurants, hotels, Rent-a-cars, electricians/grips, extras/actors.
80-90% of film production is filmed on-location at homes, businesses, hotels, schools etc. If people are able to create extra cashflow off property that they own, then they will be more confident spending and the economy will benefit as a whole. There will be more frequent DOMESTIC transactions that keep businesses running instead of holding profits.
A support for the arts will lead more people to pick up paint brushes, script paper and instruments. When the outlet can be honored as more than just a "hobby" in a capitalistic society, that's when people will venture there.

Our Philosophy on Life
It's cheaper to do it yourself

Someone out there has something you need and you have something they'd be willing to trade for it.
People used to trade goats for chicken eggs. Now we put our trust in dead presidents. Except. Recently stock markets and broadcasters are not providing citizens with too much confidence. So. Let's go back to basics while our government figures this problem out.
We need to finish our film. What do you need?
Your kid is doing bad in math? I graduated from an Ivy League
Your lawn needs mowing, dishes need washing and a ride to the airport? Okay.
I work at J Crew, can I buy you some clothes in exchange for your place for a day?
Think goats for chicken eggs.
Oh and the Benefits!
A post-grad in Alabama will be able to log on to research her options for the film she is shooting in Seattle that next summer. She won't have to buy an expensive airline ticket and then knock on doors (since hiring someone is out of the question altogether).

Why You Should Rent Out Your Property:
10. Your vacation home sits vacant anyway
9. You have two cars in your driveway & own a bike
8. That drum set was something when you were younger
but now its just something that picks up dust
7. You secretly always wanted to be an actor/cinematographer
6. The university up the street has a bunch of nice students that you wish you could help - except they won't call you back about tutoring...
5. You are desperately looking for Miley Cyrus tickets and OMG someone on mylocationscouts.com is willing to trade them!
4. You are obsessed with that upcoming actress (what's her name again?) and she is starring in this movie that needs a location very similar to yours...hmm....
3. You are selling your home: it's been emptied out and on the market for over 3 months with no action - shit! what else are you gonna do with it until someone bites?!
2. You are one of those packrats that has one of everything. Your wife left you because there's no room in the house. Your kids are embarrassed that their dad is addicted to ebay & yard sales. The only hope for you is to rent out all your gear and buy them diamond rings and skateboards. See? You knew what you were doing!
1. The economy is unstable and you should have cash under that mattress just in case you need to go out and buy the $101 per barrel gas or 5.9% price increase on food.
Not to mention the
---------70% increase in corn prices this year (Technology Review)
--------- That also adds to higher fuel prices (corn used in fuel)
---------Food costs rising fastest in 17 years (AP Business)
--------- Milk prices risen 26% & Egg prices 40% & Fresh produce 20% (Fed
Bureau of Labor Stats)
--------- Costco now has a limit to how many bags of rice can be
purchased at one time
--------- Inflation is regional but pegged at 3-4% a year
--------- Congress passed a law to re-coin all metal money because there are price increases in copper
--------- 2 billion more people will exist on this planet in 10 years (UN Projections & Coppenhagen Report)
So yeah... I think you can appreciate an extra source of income right now
