Super Quick Stories
I discovered micro fiction (stories told in 100 words or less) in 2006 and fell in love with it. I just love to write micro fiction stories. Here you'll find some of the stories I've written and a few links to places to read other micro fiction pieces.

Brainwashed
By Nancy A. Cavanaugh
"We will be infiltrating the subversive group called Using Peace to Universally Reprogram Society," General Warengore announced.
"What are we up against?" Captain Strong asked.
"Everything we have on UPURS is in your briefings," he answered. "Be careful men. Their leader, codename "Purple Dinosaur", is highly dangerous. Dismissed!"
. . . . .
"General, we just received a radio transmission from Strong. They captured him."
Warengore read the message: Can't escape ... we're a happy family ... resistance fading ... a hug and a kiss ... must give in ... won't you say you love me too?

Snack
By Nancy A. Cavanaugh
Carrie laughed as she ran ahead of the group. She'd been warned to stay with tour but she hadn't been listening. She never listened.
Just as she was out of sight a giant stepped out onto the path. Carrie ran into his big toe.
The giant squatted to get a better look then picked her up. "You'll make a yummy snack."
She screamed as the giant put her in his shirt pocket. No one heard her as the giant continued on his way.
Carrie was never seen again.
Moral: Listen to your tour guide.

Anniversary Dinner
By Nancy A. Cavanaugh
"Meet me at our place. We need to talk."
Everything was ready: dinner, candlelight, flowers, and a present.
She smiled when he arrived.
"Happy anniversary darling."
He was confused. "Anniversary?"
"You know, of our separation. Open your present."
He opened the box on his plate. A soft pop was followed by a small puff of smoke.
He looked up in surprise then fell forward. His face landed in the mashed potatoes.
She picked up her cell phone. "Sweetheart, please let Father O'Malley know we'll be able to have the wedding at St. Mary's after all."

The Pile Up
By Nancy A. Cavanaugh
"All units respond to a 40 car pile up on 95 South."
Police, fire and ambulance squads raced to the scene. Fire, blood, and mayhem filled the highway. News copters hovered overhead.
"What happened?" the officer asked the driver.
"I was just driving along when suddenly it was there," she sobbed.
"What was there?"
"I braked then swerved," the woman continued, fixated. "I closed my eyes and heard a thud."
"What were you trying to avoid?" the officer asked impatiently.
"I saw it bounce into the other lane."
"Saw what?!"
She looked at the officer then blushed.
"A pigeon."

Cat and Mouse Games
By Nancy A. Cavanaugh
"Help!" cried the mouse.
The cat just laughed. "There's no one here."
"Let me go!" the mouse pleaded.
"Ahh! If only I could!" the large tabby said. "But I've not eaten yet today."
The mouse made a dive for it. The cat called out with a smile, "Don't run. You'll only die tired!"
But the mouse seemed not to listen as he ran down the alley. With several long bounds the cat soon caught up with his prey. He could hear the rodent's heart pounding and heavy breathing as he stepped on its tail.
The cat bit into his tender mousy meal. "Delicious."
