About myosource

My name is Marlin McQueen, but I also answer to Coach, Coach McQueen, Grandpa a/k/a Pappy and the Crazy Bald Man.

I was an "Eastsider" and grew up in an older section of Eastern Kansas City, Missouri. The "East Side" was truly a melting pot of cultures. We had a little of everything and once in while it was tough, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I played baseball, football and basketball through the local Community Center up until High School. I graduated from East High School in 1976 where I played football and was on the wrestling team. We didn't have a baseball team so it was just summer ball. Training facilities and tournament teams were a newer concept and not something known to us in the inner city. By the time my kids were entering sports, I could see how important these things could be to a developing athlete and I wanted to make sure they would get the opportunity to learn, train and be a part of this new trend.

After High School, I was offered a baseball scholarship at an expensive private college, but chose to attend Central Missouri State University now known as The University of Central Missouri instead where I "walked on" and became a member of the baseball team. Unfortunately my college career was cut short due to a severe concussion. Unable to pick up the fastball, my hitting went down hill fast and although I was still a great defensive catcher with a laser arm, it just wasn't enough to remain competitive at that level. Competitive slow-pitch softball became my sports outlet for the next 12 years.

As you can probably tell by now, sports have always been an important part of my life so it's no surprise that my kids have all been involved in sports. My oldest daughter played softball and basketball in High School. She is now a great wife and awesome mother of my 2 grandchildren. My son began playing sports at the age of 4 and was a 3-sport player up through Junior High School. He decided to focus on football and baseball in High School and was fortunate to play linebacker on a state championship football team his senior year. Something he will always remember. He is a lefty and currently pitches and plays the outfield on his college baseball team. My youngest daughter is still in High School and has earned four National Championship Jackets for Competitive Cheerleading. She has had an opportunity to travel all over the United States and has even competed at Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando, Florida. An experience she will not soon forget.

During the past 20 years I have coached football, baseball, basketball and softball at the youth level. I have also served as Assistant Area Director, Area Director, Board Member and Co-Chairman of a local football and cheerleading organization with 3,000+ participants.

The majority of my professional career was spent in the mortgage business, but I currently work nights as a table games dealer at a local casino so I can spend my days pursuing interests that I enjoy. There is no greater thrill to me than helping an athlete develop to their fullest potential whether it be through speed and strength development or sport specific training. I also help coach varsity football and wrestling at a local private school where I'm the Offensive Line and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Coach T., my buddy since the 8th grade, and I have wanted to coach together for a long time and finally have the opportunity. Our coaching staff believes in teaching young athletes to believe in themselves, their teammates, work hard on the field and in the classroom. We also have a burning desire to teach our athletes to think "outside the box".

I am also an Owner/Partner of Myosource LLC, developer of the Myosource Kinetic Bands. It has been an interesting challenge these past 4 years, during the developmental stages of the Kinetic Bands, but it's a great feeling to be able to help so many athletes and individuals around the world who want to improve their skills, get in shape, or just tone and firm.

Before the Kinetic Bands, my partners and I were working with athletes in various areas of speed development, strength and quickness. We were doing the normal drills, weights, etc. along with an incredible training tool called the Real Runner, but it just seemed there should be an easier way to work the "core" muscles that would be more effective. We wanted something affordable that an athlete could do anytime and almost anywhere. Many of the training tools (i.e.: parachutes, sleds and bungee cords) can be expensive, require more space or a partner, are time consuming and don't allow you to work sport specific areas.

We did a lot of research in the areas of resistance and met with people that were using various products and ideas. We wanted something that worked the "core" and decided it needed to be above the knees to relieve stress and work the "core" muscles directly.Resistance Bands and a way to utilize them was our answer. We found a guy that was working with a similar concept and considered joining forces. He really had it going on but he just wasn't open to any development suggestions and he was all about the money. We decided to develop our own product that would fit our training style and ideals. Our goals were clear: that it be affordable; simple to put on; and effective for all ages and levels of training. Now four prototypes later we feel we have the real deal and we have professionals and amateurs seeing awesome results.

Here a just a few of the great things our customers are telling us:

"Thank you for the speed training results with our son. Our son is a High School baseball player with a lot of promise for the future. He was struggling with his 60 time and started working with Myosource and the Kinetic Bands. In 7 weeks he improved his 60 time by .4 seconds. This looks very good on his stat sheet and will be great for Combines and Showcase events this summer."

Joe S.

"I just got the KINETIC BANDS and love its convenience and versatility. I wear it around the house, while mowing the lawn and I never go to the gym without it. I really feel the resistance working my gluts and upper outer thighs while used in conjunction with the treadmill, elliptical trainer and Stairmaster. I highly recommend it - well worth the price!"

Nancy

"Our daughter is a 6 time World Tae Kwon Do Champion and has been using your product in her training. I was loaned KINETIC BANDS and put them on our 9 year-old Granddaughter who is a 2 time World Champion and will be competing for this year's Triple Crown World Championship in Little Rock. My young granddaughter has had a hard time with getting height on her side kick, however, after a week of just a few minutes a day, she has improved the height considerably. I was so impressed that I decided that I would like to make this product part of our complete training program."

Thanks, Cynthia (Cindy)

"Physiotherapy Associates: Recent research shows that core and hip weakness are correlated with increased low back, knee, and ankle injuries. Thus, strengthening the hip reduces risk of serious lower extremity injury. Hip muscular activation affects the ability of both the quadriceps and hamstrings to generate an overall muscle balance of the lower legs of which increases a person's ability to perform at a higher functional capacity. We use the Kinetic Bands from Myosource to do just that with the majority of our patient and athlete population by focusing on enhancing the strength of the hip musculature."

Holly, PTA, NSCA-CPT (Physical Therapist Assistant and Certified Personal Trainer)
Ted, PT, MPT, MTC (Physical Therapist, Manual Therapy Certified)

"The Kinetic Bands are a great Training tool. We use them in all of our training on and off the track. If you use your "Legs" you should have a set of Kinetic Bands."

Trenton Guy Sr., Track Coach

Who I'd like to meet:
