Safety Comes First

When choosing your children's outdoor playground equipment Safety Comes First. Check for accreditation and compliance. Make sure that all design feature are safe, such as the stairs, ladders, slides and swings. Also check for protruding parts that could bruise, cut or scrape your little one. Play structures need to be sturdy and free from splinters and rough edges. Finally make sure the children's play equipment does not contain harmful substances and is suitable for all weather use. Most outdoor play sets are supplied with all the parts needed for easy home assembly using normal DIY tools and equipment.

To keep structures safe, make sure they are built with solid materials. Secure them with nuts and bolts. Anchor them to the ground and be sure to check the structure every few months. Choose a site that can be easily observed at all times. Place structures away from steps, uneven surfaces and tripping hazards. Position swings with ample room. To create a safe cushioned space cover the play area with 8 in. to 12 in. pea gravel, bark or sand. A patch of lawn is an important element to include. Young children can learn to walk and older children can play games.

Children grow up so very fast and one summer to the next in a child's life bring so many changes. Parents MUST seize the moment and make things happen right then!
Many cherished memories can be created with our children. My dad would get a load of sand each Spring for us to play in. We played all summer long. For my children, play equipment was not as advanced as today. I built an elevated "Fort" with a walkway halfway around and a sandbox below It was the highlight for that summer and summers to come until our two sons grew up and away from the "Fort". Yes, cherish the moment. It goes by unbelievably fast.
It was an awful day when I had to take it down.
