Myrna Loy what a beauty
Ranked #22,677 in Entertainment, #276,729 overall
Queen of Hollywood
What is it about her? That assured tone in her voice, delicate features, strength...Its the whole package. On the screen, one is immediately struck by her soft feminine yet self assured strength and extraordinary beauty. She has been referred to as the perfect woman: sympathetic, wise, sexy and an incredible sense of humor to boot. What more could a man want in a woman? And what more could woman want to emulate?
Her most famous role was as Nora Charles, wife of detective Nick Charles (William Powell), in The Thin Man series. She and William Powell created such a desirable looking relationship. They proved to be a popular couple and appeared in 14 films together.
It turns out that Loy was not only a class act on the screen but off as well. She was also a staunch Democrat, she served as a film advisor for UNESCO from 1949 to 1954 and an advisor to the National Committee Against Discrimination in Housing. She co-founded The Committee for The First Amendment in order to battle against HUAC during the 50s witch hunts, and later campaigned for Adlai Stevenson and John F. Kennedy. During WWII Myrna worked closely with the Red Cross. So outspoken was she against Adolph Hitler that her name appeared on his black list.
Myrna Loy, the queen of Hollywood, was a great actress and humanitarian whose star can be seen at 6685 Hollywood Boulevard.

Myrna Loy is best remembered for her role as Nora Charles, wife of Nick Charles (played by William Powell) in the Thin Man series of movies. Based on Dashiell Hammet's novel of the same name. According to Wikipedia:
"The Thin Man was the first of six comic detective films starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a hard-drinking and flirtatious married couple who banter wittily as they solve crimes with ease. Their dog, the Wire-Haired Fox Terrier Asta, played by Skippy, was also a popular character. Somehow, after drinking a lot of alcohol, Nick never seems to get a headache or even seem seriously drunk, aside from a little wobble every now and then."
First in a six part series of films The Thin Man was nominated for the The Academy Award for Best Picture in 1934. It was followed by After the Thin Man (1936) %uFFFD Another Thin Man (1939) %uFFFD Shadow of the Thin Man (1941) %uFFFD The Thin Man Goes Home (1944) %uFFFD Song of the Thin Man (1947).
Loy's portrayal of Nora as the witty, fun loving and gently strong heiress is always captivating. The couples comedic banter helps to seal them as one of the most likable couples ever on the silver screen.
