How to MySpace with Profile 2.0

MySpace Profile 2.0 was officially launched on Monday, November 10th. The new MySpace 2.0 is supposed to to give you more privacy options, faster loading times and many more customization options.

Learn how to use it here.

How to Upgrade to MySpace Profile 2.0

Under the "Profile" drop down, you'll see "Customize Profile". Click on that and then the "Upgrade to Profile 2.0" button. Click the "Publish" button in the upper right corner. None of your changes will show until you publish. From there you can either go to your home dashboard or view your new profile.

Basic Information in MySpace Profile 2.0

Everything in that Header at the Top of Your Profile Page

In MySpace Profile 2.0, you don't need special code to hide last login date, age or location. When you are in your profile editor, click the little pencil icon on the top of the basic information box (module). Simply check or uncheck the information you want to show or hide.

To remove or change the three pictures in the top box, click the little pencil if you haven't already, then click on the "Edit Basic Information" link. Scroll down to your photos and modify as you like.

Rearrange the Modules on Your MySpace Profile

Put Those Boxes Wherever You Want

Click on the "Change Layout" link and pick the format you like best. Then just drag and drop the modules to where you want them to be. Play around with the placement until you get it just right.

You can't move the basic information module. That always stays at the top.

How to Hide Modules on MySpace 2.0

Hide Your Top Friends... Or Anything Else

Once again, hiding information on your MySpace profile is easy with Profile 2.0. No special code is needed.

To hide your top friends (or any other module), log into "Customize Profile" and click on the little pencil icon on the top right corner of the module. If you want to hide your friends list from everyone, select the option that says "Just Me". Or choose "Friends Only" to hide your friends from everyone but your friends.

How to Make Your MySpace Private

Keep Your Secrets ;)

When you switch to Profile 2.0, all of your modules default to public. This means that if you had a private profile before, it won't be private now. You'll need to modify that.

With MySpace Profile 2.0, there is no longer one setting to make your entire page private. If you want to set your whole page to private like you did in Profile 1.0, pick one module to edit (see section above), choose how private you want it to be by selecting who can see it, then check the "Apply to all modules" box.

Change the Number of Comments that Display

Got too many comments? Gee... Too bad for you.

Click on the little pencil icon on the Comments module to open up the Comments options. Select "Show Comments" and then choose the maximum number of comments you want to display.

How to Customize Your Layout in MySpace Profile 2.0

You have a few different options to set up your new MySpace 2.0 layout.

1. Go to "Select Theme" and choose from one of the pre-made layouts already available.

2. Visit one of the layout websites listed below and put the code given into the CSS box in your profile generator. Click "CSS" and paste it in.

3. Click on "Advanced Edit" and individually select your own formatting options.

I had my old profile saved on pimp-my-profile.com, so all I had to do was convert it to MySpace 2.0 with the click of a button. I had a few modifications to make after that to get my profile to have all the same styles as before.

How to Add A Cursor to MySpace 2.0

What Fun!

Do a search for a MySpace cursor that you like. Get the code for the cursor and paste it at the bottom of any other code in your Profile 2.0 CSS section. (Under "Customize Profile")

Get Cursors!

How to Cancel MySpace Profile 2.0

Why would you want to do that?

Okay. If you are resistant to change and don't like MySpace Profile 2.0, you can easily go back to Profile 1.0. Go to "Customize Profile" and click on "Go Back" in the upper right-hand corner. You can choose to reset Profile 2.0 back to the original state or go back to Profile 1.0.

Keep in mind that if you switch back to Profile 1.0, you will lose any changes you made in Profile 2.0. (I know. It happened to me while I was switching back and forth to write this lens.)
