Then I stumbled across a Squidoo lens which talked about a Friend adder bot. I downloaded the trial program, but was not able to get it working properly, so (Google is your friend!) I started searching for others and discovered Easy Adder, the Ultimate MySpace Friend Adder tool to help promote your band, market your product and services, or even run for office. Easy Adder automates the daunting task of adding friends, sending messages, and leaving comments.

What can I say? I bought Easy Adder, and my Friends list is growing like a proverbial weed!

I use Easy Adder to send 50 Friend Requests a day, spaced two or three minutes apart to emulate human behavior, and I remain on hand to deal with CAPTCHA requests (about a third of the folks I send requests to require them).

A CAPTCHA is a program that protects websites against bots by generating and grading tests that humans can pass but current computer programs cannot. The theory is that humans can read distorted text, but current computer programs can't.

When Easy Adder runs into a CAPTCHA request, it retrieves the CAPTCHA image and displays it on my desktop. I type in the correct text and hit ENTER and the job's done.

Although there are sites that offer API scripts that reputedly bypass CAPTCHA images, I have no interest in using them. Typing in a few bits of text for a few minutes a day is an insignificant task when compared with the return on my time and energy.

Setting it up is a snap.

First you create one or more accounts - one for each of your MySpace pages, then add the account(s) to the "Working" module. After that has been done, any action you ask Easy Adder to take will include each working account.

Next, you set up your Search parameters, just as you would on MySpace. The search options are the same, but they appear in tabbed sections, rather than on a single page, so you have to set up your search for Basics, Looks and Lifestyle using 3 different forms.

Then you decide what you want to do. You can send Friend requests, post Bulletins and broadcast both text and html comments.

You can also send out invitations to join Groups or Events:

I searched for everyone with "kayak", "dragonboat" or "paddle" in their profile, using the Google interface, and came up with nearly 3,000 paddlers to invite to join my Dragonboating Group in a matter of one minute or so!

The benefits from using Easy Adder are obvious from the fact that I added hundreds of new friends in less than a week.

I'm able to maintain a presence before these folks on a daily basis (through my daily motivational bulletin), and enjoy a steady flow of inquiries about my business as a direct result.

Easy Adder allows you to decide whether or not to send a Friends Request based upon someone's last login time.

If you're careless, or lazy, and don't check this, you could end up sending hundreds of requests to people that haven't logged in in 2 or 3 weeks.

This isn't an earthshaking calamity, but it can create a problem as your SENT REQUESTS mailbox may become jammed with hundreds of unanswered requests, and it may take weeks to clear them.

I now configure Easy Adder only to send requests to users who have logged in within the past 3 days, and I keep a close eye on the number of backlogged SENT REQUESTS, doing my best to keep it below 200. Any request more than 7 days old should be deleted.

Rumour has it that Myspace has changed the rules about adding friends and spam reports. You are apparently allowed 350 transactions a day...period!

That includes messages, friend requests, comments, and bulletins you send out in a 24 hour period. Not each but added together. 350.

There are undoubtedly limits on individual actions, like Friend Requests, Bulletins, Comments and Messages, but I can't tell you what they are. My recommendation, however, is that you do not exceed 50 Friend Requests a day, and keep Bulletins down well below 25. (In fact, I never post more than two a day.)

It is also critical that you maintain a reasonable delay between requests. If you send Friend Requests every 10 seconds, your account will be blocked, and may be deleted.

I recommend a 90 second delay. This is "human doable," and it won't lead to trouble.

Any heavier activity may lead to your account being blocked. Although it isn't permanent, it can have a serious impact upon your Friends List, so don't go out of your way to attract attention.

Those people won't join companies, but they will join you when you earn a justifiable reputation as an expert and a leader.
