Mystic Mama
My name is Bambi aka: Mystic Mama
I live in the Highland Park area of St. Paul with my husband Scott. We're just a couple of old hippies now that the kids are all grown up and out of the house.
One of the things we've always had in common is that we are both very artistically inclined and creative people.
Proud to be a Rocket Mom!
Why Bambi is Mystic Mama
I grew up in the 60's and 70's with very unconventional hippy musician parents, so I've always been very open-minded and free spirited. When I was 9 my Grandma Quinn gave me a deck of tarot cards for christmas. She of course had no idea what they really were, she just thought it was a colorful card game for kids. Thanks to her little mistake I developed a life long love of all things metaphysical.
Over the years I've explored everything from Astrology to Zinc (as in crystals lol)
and have found which disciplines fit best for me. For quite a few years in the 90's I owned and operated a little "new age" book & gift shop.
I still read the tarot cards for myself and family, but no longer read proffessionally. I'm very empathic and found that doing readings for too many people left me feeling wiped out and cranky, I tend to absorb other peoples negative energy, which makes them feel better, but makes me feel awful.
Now I still do Numerology charts and readings as well as give crystal and herbal remedy advice, and still persue learning more about anything metaphysical that I can get my hands on. It's all really facinating and fun.

Mystic Mama Henna
ICNHA certified Henna Artist
I fell in love with Henna a few years back when I worked at a job where I had a lot of Somali co-workers. The girls would come to work with these elaborate and beautifully intricate designs on their hands and arms. It was love at first sight.I've always loved tattoos and art, so Henna was just a natural extension to the creative arts I was already involved in. What I love most about Henna body art, is that it is temporary, and by the time you get bored with a design it's gone and can be replaced by a new one.

The Dynamic Duo
We share our house with a 12 year old 70 pound pit bull named Koko, who is just the sweetest love puppy ever, and Koko's pet Maine Coon Cat Kitty Wompuss. We got Kitty Wompuss when Koko was 11 years old and told her she was getting a pet kitty for a couple of weeks before bringing him home. He spent his first few days locked in my bedroom while we aclimated Koko to his scent so she would accept him as part of her pack.
To do this we used a small blanket and would rub it all over the cat, then leave it in Koko's bed, after 3 days of getting her used to his scent, we then introduced them for short periods of time, 15-30 minutes at a time over the course of the next 2 days, until Koko no longer got over excited every time she saw her kitty.
Now Koko and Kitty Wompus are the best of friends.

This is our amazing grand-daughter Aaliyah. We are just loving this whole grand-parent thing! Grandpa Scott
Aaliyah is Grandpa's little angel, Scott is totally and completely smitten with the new addition to our family. Burn Injury Survival
On August 6th 2002 my husband Scott was painting a vacant apartment unit whenthere was a flash fire explosion that changed our family's lives forever.
Scott sustained 3rd degree and deeper burns to 85% of his body, beat all the odds and survived even though the doctors only gave him a 3% chance of survival.
He is now doing great and volunteers at our local burn unit helping other burn patients cope with recovery. I'll save all the details for future lenses, but keep your eye out for future burn injury recovery and survival and care-giver lenses.

Drawings By Bambi
I love to draw.I really have been exploring different brands of
colored pencils a lot lately and have to agree with
so many other artist that the prismcolor pencils
really do rock.
they are oil based so they blend really nicely and
create very vividly colored artwork. I offer prints of
my art work through Image kind and original drawings
can be purchased at my etsy site.
I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoyed
creating it.

Art Quilts
I took up quilting a few years back when Scott was in the hospital. I really love how an artist can create unique works of art in fabric that are also functional and useful.A lot of my quilts get given away as gifts, but this one is available for sale at my etsy site.
It is a 7 foot by 7 foot original wolf dreamcatcher design with hand embroidered appliqued feathers and really stunning.
Facebook Tag game.
So I got tagged recently on facebook...If you have a facebook site you probably already know what this means, but maybe not. It's a kind of getting to know you game, where the person who is tagged has to write 25 facts about themselves.
This is just an excellent exercise for anyone to do even if you're not on facebook, a really cool and fun way to become re-aquainted with yourself!
At first I thought, 25 things, that will be easy, then I got to # 3 and my mind went blank and panic set in...then I started to flow again and by the end it was like wow... I did it! and wow that was harder and a lot funner than I thought it would be...and personally enlightening...because about halfway through, you start weeding out the knee-jerk easy answers and have to decide what you want to include in your list of 25 things and what you want to weed out....
Any way here is mine....
RULES: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
(To do this, go to "notes" under tabs (+) on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)
25 things about Bambi
1.) I am obsessed with my cat Mr. Kitty Wompuss. I have had zillions of cats B4, but never actually loved them like this, now I understand people who treat their pets like kids. lol...I also like to dress him up in dog clothes. (they don't make cat clothes)
2.) I am the best cook on the planet, no really just ask anyone who has eaten my cooking. lmao
3.) my IQ is 147
4.) my son Dustin is my best friend, and just a great kid!
5.) I actually like being a grandma, though I still really don't like children, lmao
6.) I hated green peppers my whole life until about 5 years ago, now I absoloutly love them on everything, even pizza!
7.) I have 7 tattoos

8.) I am totally addicted to the "Buffy" & "Angel" Joss Wedon series, I own every season of both shows and watch them over and over again.
9.) I read around 5 books every week, and really like popular detective/mystery/romance fiction like Tess Gerritsen & Janet Evonovich.
10.) I spend 10 or more hours on the computer every day, of course I work from home on the computer, but still, I am online almost every waking hour, lol.
11.) I absolutely love shrimp, but it's one of the few things that I just cannot seem to cook well, so I have to eat out to enjoy it. Ironically I hate eggs and hamburgers, but cook those really good...lmao
I hate housework!

Buy at AllPosters.com
12.)I am the worlds worst housekeeper, I always thought I should have a wife instead of a husband, because I don't mind working, I just hate to clean...and really hate laundry.
13.) I rarely eat fruit, I really don't like most fruit, except really red grapefruit...which I eat like an orange, and once a year strawberry shortcake...and banana cream pie...my idea of fruit is those candy sugar coated gummi orange slices....mmmmm I love those!
14.) I love really bad horror movies, the ones that are so bad that they're funny!
15.) I love smiley faces...I think the whole world should be covered in smileys...but also think someone should blow-up Walmart for giving smiley's a bad name!
16.) I hate racism and bigotry to the extreme! I believe in equality to all people regardless of race, sexual orientation or lifestyle...I believe that as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else it's cool...I will call people on it when they make racist or sexist remarks...
17.) with # 16 in mind...one of my pet peeves is Black men that don't set a good example for their sons, you know these grown men who run around in baggy pants with their underpants showing "Axing to go the bafroom!" OMG! I once lectured a man in public for setting a bad example for his son by using the word "axe" instead of ask...as the mother of black sons, I know that young black men already have enough working against them and really need positive male role models that can show them that they can do or be anything...so yeah Obama Rocks!
18.) I love those little colored marshmallows, they are just so cheerful and yummy!
19.) I think "safety laws" and "safety devices" are what is wrong with the world...here is why...When I was a kid we didn't have "seat belt laws" or "bike helmets" and the way it worked was the smart kids survived and the idiots didn't... Darwins law of natural selection... now-a-days we got these idiot children wearing helmuts and knee pads and never near anything dangerous... and the result is that we block out natural selection and end up with a world filled with idiot adults...think about it

20.) I love banjo music...you just cannot listen to the banjo and not start tapping your toes and smiling! The person playing the banjo could be singing about dismembering his mother and you would still tap your toes and smile, because the banjo just has that magic power.
21.) I am a very spiritual person, and believe Jesus, Budha, Mohamed, Kirshna and all the rest all tried to teach us the same basic things... to love each other...to not kill, hurt, lie, steal....to be good to each other....but that humans are just too self-centered to get the message... instead they use their organized religions to try to control and hurt and kill each other...so I don't like organized religion.
22.) I love Hagen Daas Carmel Cone Ice cream
23.) I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that within every crisis there is an opportunity to learn, or grow or become a better stronger person...and that when life throws crap at us, that it's our job to find the lesson that we are meant to learn from it, and if we don't face up to it and learn that lesson that the same crap will keep on being tossed at us by the fates until we wise up and learn.
24.) I am a night person, I don't do mornings...because that's bedtime for me...I don't really wake up until the sun goes down.
25.) I think life is too short to not enjoy it, so go ahead and eat yummy food, dance in the kitchen and be silly...don't waste a minute on worrying, holding grudges or fighting or negative bullshit...have fun, play, smile, laugh, sing, hug,...enjoy!
Doing this was really cathartic and I think it's just a wonderful way for people to get to know each other better....
Visit me and say hello, I'm Bambi Watson of course... and would love to hear from you on facebook!
