Hello!

At Mystique Vintage Clothing & Accessories everything you find for sale is expertly handpicked & prepared for sale by myself - a veteran, seasoned antiques, collectible & vintage clothing dealer residing in the heart of New England - where all the best old stuff hides & resides.

I specialize in wartime era (World War II that is) fashions, as well as the 50s era & also into the 60s & 70s.

Since you're shopping via the web, I'm particularly fussy about noting condition in detail (hopefully without being too long winded). Also, rest assured any inquiries made via email or phone are answered promptly & politely and orders are processed quickly.

Remember too that items are added weekly and returns are welcome at Mystique Vintage, so  stop by soon & enjoy a pleasant, stress free vintage shopping experience.

Movies that inspired fashion trends

(and are great movies too)!

Some terrific films that impacted, influenced or inspired the fashion world in one way or another....

Bonnie and Clyde

When Faye & Warren were young & beautiful , this super talented duo brought the gangster era outlaw couple to life on the big screen. Faye Dunaway took a special interest in the costuming aspect of this film for her character Bonnie Parker & paired with her beauty shone a spotlight on 30s era fashions.

Annie Hall

Flashdance

Ugh, well, love it or hate it or just look back at this 80s hit with a mixture of wonder & disgust - we all jumped on the torn sweatshirt off the shoulder bandwagon & bopped to the soundtrack like there was no tomorrow.

Saturday Night Fever

We'd like to forget the Disco era but it keeps coming back - polyester, hanky hems, glitter, men's platform shoes.....

The Women (Keepcase)

Presenting a cavalcade of late 30s talented Hollywood beauties in George Cukor's soap dish of a movie. Joan Crawford and her shoulder pads are a stand out of course and the 1/2 hour in color fashion show is a drool worthy highlight for any vintage fan.

Collecting old photographs

I love old photos from the 19th century on up to the 40s & 50s. From family photos to people I don't even know these sepia toned portraits & freeze framed bits of the past are fascinating to me. They can also be a resource for dating antique dress from other eras, as just regular folks usually put on all their finery to sit for portraits. The early pics of young children & babies are especially charming.

My 5 favorite vintage clothing items

  1. Blue jeans! Thank you Levi Strauss, where would we be without them.
  2. The vintage beaded sweater. From cashmere to angora & lambswool to soft & cuddly orlon, the beaded sweater goes with anything & everything from evening wear to jeans. And it seems that no two are exactly alike.
  3. 1940s rayon print dresses. Silky smooth in whimsical prints with feminine clingy cuts & demure details.
  4. The little black dress. Slimming and sultry in any style, from any era.
  5. Men's fedoras. I wish they would come back to stay. There's nothing sexier on a well dressed man then a rakishly tipped Stetson!
