Creating a Vision Board

Today by creating this vision board I'm saying to the Universe that I want to be in vibration with these things that I desire. As I select these images of things I desire, emotions I want to feel, and places I want to travel I am excited and imagining that I'm there enjoying whatever it is that has my attention. The key is imagining it in the now and by creating a vision board you more clearly define what it is that you desire.

What is a vision board?

A vision board (also called a Treasure Map or a Visual Explorer or Creativity Collage) is typically a poster board on which you paste or collage images that you've torn out from various magazines. It's simple.

The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to live, or where you want to vacation, your life changes to match those images and those desires.

How do I create one?

Option #1 You can create a vision board just by pasting pictures from magazines or books onto a poster board that are the images of what you desire or how you desire to feel.

Option #2 You can create one here on Squidoo just as I have by posting pictures just as I have done below.

To create one here on squidoo you will first need to sign up for a free squidoo account. http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/newbizmau

Review

At last a book with a vision! The Vision Board by Joyce Schwarz is so compelling in both message and imagery it deserves NOT a spot on your bookshelf or coffee table, heck... bring the hook and wire, I'm hanging this book on my wall! -- Dan Hollings, Internet & Mobile Marketing Strategist, Internet Strategist behind the Movie Version of "The Secret"

I know Joyce Schwarz is a visionary because she empowers the superstars, reaches down to the teens and helps everyone in between to grab it, bag it and tag it. The difference between a super achiever and a daydreamer is the transmission to manifest. The real "secret" is in the pages of The Vision Board book and the shooting star behind all the stars is Joyce. A must read. -- BJ Dohrmann, Best Selling Author of Super Achiever Mind Sets and Adviser to Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, T. Harv Eker, Lisa Nichols and Mark Hansen

If living the good life is an art--and I believe that it is--Joyce Schwarz has painted a map of how we all can transform our lives into masterpieces. -- Pablo Solomon, Artist and Sculptor

Joyce Schwarz has successfully taken visioning to a whole new level with her pragmatic how-to approach. Any initial skepticism to visionboarding is put to rest through her examples of real people who have created real change for themselves simply by taking the first step to creating their own vision boards. Schwarz has envisioned and secured her own success as a self-help author by sharing her advice with us in this book. Now, I'm off to create my own vision board! -- Brian Kurth, President of Vocation Vacations

Joyce Schwarz is an imaginative writer that imparts a clear vision. This book as an entertaining easy read that makes an airplane trip pass in the wink of an eye. Joyce has made a significant contribution in the media and entertainment business. Read it . . . you will enjoy it. -- Dr. Bernard Luskin, CEO of Touro University Worldwide and Author of Casting the Net Over Global Learning

Joyce Schwarz, in her book The Vision Board: Unlock the Secret to An Extraordinary Life, is to be praised for her tremendous contribution to the unfolding of cosmic awareness that beckons us all. Her concept of the vision board allows us to focus our energies on what we desire from the universe, and to maintain the necessary passionate and vigorous attention it so deserves. Our thoughts and feelings can return time and again to the physical representation of our spiritual desires and aspirations. It can and will become the source of tremendous support and focus during our personal metaphysical journey. -- Steven E. Hodes, M.D, Author of Meta-Physician on Call for Better Health

Joyce's book proves that dreaming the impossible dream and then making it happen is not impossible. -- Ben Mandel, Producer of The New Home Show on PBS

Reading this fascinating book is like zeroing on a Google Earth map of your life where you get to do the fine tuning and call all the shots! This is by far the most brilliant, simple, fun and easy book I have ever read on creating a vision board. If you have been attracted to "grab it," you will have experiences beyond your wildest dreams! There really are no coincidences! -- Maui Marcy Koltun-Crilley, Founder, Principal and CFAO (Chief Fun and Abundance Officer) of powerfulintentions.com

This beautiful book should be on the nightstand of everyone who wants to see their vision come to life. Dream it, see it, enjoy it! -- Noah St. John, Author of The Secret Code of Success and Founder of successclinic.com

Visioning has become a lost art for many. Joyce Schwarz's book is a profound re-entry into the ancient process of seeing the mystery before it happens. A great read. -- Lynn V. Andrews, Leader in the Field of Spirituality and Personal Development and Author of the Best Selling Medicine Woman Series --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Instructions for Creating the Life You Really Want

There are lots of books out there on creative visualization, but Choquette, author of The Psychic Pathway (1995), offers something more. She helps readers figure out exactly what they want before they try to get what they think they want. She then goes on to show how creative manifestation is available to everyone who learns the process. The engaging, chatty writing style might make this manual seem less serious than some books on the topic of spiritual development, but readers who undertake the step-by-step program Choquette sets out will find material that is insightful, even inspiring. With so many New Age titles available, it can be difficult to sort out the best from the babble. Choquette is high on the list. Ilene Cooper

Healthy Life Style

A research on the bone health of one of the oldest persons in the world raises the question of which has the most effect on the human lifespan: genetics or a healthy lifestyle or some combination of the two? Research reveals that there were no genetic modifications which could have contributed to the longevity of a 114-year old Spaniard. The research team, directed by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona professor Adolfo Díez Pérez, pointed out a healthy lifestyle, a Mediterranean diet, a temperate climate and daily cycling until the age of 102 as the reasons for his excellent health.

Create it and forget it or Create and focus?

Ranked #1 on TrafficSword.com!

To all of you experienced vision board creators: Thank you so much for your feedback and support.

I've received so much feedback on vision boards, something I didn't entirely suspect would happen so quickly. I found that there are many seasoned vision board creators who have been making vision boards for years. I've heard many stories of people having created vision boards in years past, and then finding them or pulling them out again to see what has manifested and find all sorts of things have come into their lives that was put on the vision board years ago.

So the QUESTION is:

Is it better to create a vision board and put it away or keep it visible where you see it everyday?

Loading

Create it and forget it.

Serenia says:

Well going on my experience, you say it once, truely beleive and then forget about it. The universe stills works to get it for you - it happened to me.
If saying it once and forgetting, works then I am sure that making a vision board - as long as you truely beleive - and then forgetting it, will also work.

StephenC says:

I like seeing it once in a while, but not constantly.

Jhangora says:

It may become an irritant if u arn't making much progress.

who-i-am says:

After having had success with vision boards, I created a vision book, and it;s been a "best friend" to me. I visit with it regularly, celebrating and giving thanks to the pages that have manifested into my life, and there's loads of emotion for those visions ticked as well as still unfolding. I also love seeing it as an ongoing project, doodling in it, writing, poetry, pictures that move me, specifics I'm alligning myself vibrationally.... it's also hand-made by a friend and I decorated the cover. Hmnnnnnn... it's very special and I like knowing my children will have it (and subsequent ones) one day as part of my legacy to them. I say..... create it, forget it and revisit and engage with it regularly :-)

Joan4 says:

I use my vision boards daily like a prayer log. Mine are in a notebook. However, I never hesitate to move a page to the back and "retire" it, when I tire of it. There does come a time to let them rest and simmer.

Keep it visible.

Millionairemomma says:

I keep it visible but somehow things I want start to happen when I don't look at it all the time (unintentionally).

inspirationz says:

I find that if I put it away, I lose focus and can feel purposeless, but if I am constantly reminded of my desires and visions, it keeps me feeling like I know where I'm going - which for me is a good feeling!

GypsyOwl says:

My first few vision boards were taped to the closet wall behind the clothing. I did this to keep those around me from negative commenting and discouraging me. As the folks in my life began to become more and more supportive (as I began to trust it was ok to choose in this way) and I was routinely moving things from the board to the gratitude list, I began to post my boards in more prominent places. I would never 'forget' it... it is important (I believe) to check things off and add new things to the vision.

Thrinsdream says:

I have mine in front of my desk. So I am always affirming what my desires are. When I accomplish one, it gets taken off and replaced by another.

domain19 says:

i prefer choose to keep it visible.

AskPat says:

It is better to keep your vision board visible to view it daily.

Tipi says:

We need to refresh our vision from time to time...keep it somewhere that is easy to view...

desa999 says:

I made one of these three years ago and it was a great motivator. Great idea.

Have2Cruise says:

I made my first vision board at the beginning of the year and I must say it works! I have already noticed positive changes in my life towards items on my vision board.

KokoTravel says:

Keep it visible but personal... no need to boast about it.

To Share or not to Share

Should you keep your Vision Board a secret or share it with all your family and friends?

Loading

Share it with everyone

bejeezers says:

Its a tough call - but on balance, I say share it..

Thrinsdream says:

It depends on how positive your family are! If they condemn your ideas and think it all bunkum then keep it to yourself, however, if they are positive and help you affirm your desires then share away! But I have to tick one, and as I have a great positive family I choose to share!

Tipi says:

Could go both ways here....I'll balance the sides a bit this round....not all will understand your visiton but they don't have to...its a vision!

Keep it to yourself

Millionairemomma says:

They are secret because they wouldn't understand or believe it would be possible.

Squidoo_Chick says:

Secret always

AskPat says:

These are your personal goals. I think you should keep it to yourself.

Have2Cruise says:

I would say keep it where you can see it daily. It doesn't need to be out where everyone can see it.

KokoTravel says:

It's a personal goal...

Koupie says:

I don't hide it, I keep it on the wall of my home office but not many people come in here :) I prefer to keep my visions to myself until they manifest.

artyfax says:

I think that sharing it is probably alright but could lead to some leg-pulling, maybe best to keep it to yourself and close friends/family

Margaret_Schaut predicts:

We used to call them collages, and the kids all did them not only during school, but on rainy days in the summer. Guess anyone can take a very old idea and claim it for their own by changing the word from collage to vision. We also used these during sales training as a way to motivate the sales people to make more sales. The things that motivate me now are much harder to put on a board....

Have2Cruise predicts:

Great lens!! I have only created one vision but I have already seen the power of it at work in my life.

KokoTravel predicts:

People will learn that it is NOT about the THINGS in life, but about the people with whom we travel on this journey.

GabrielaFargasch predicts:

Closing the gap even more between desires and manifestation. As we learn more and more how to feel the emotions of having our desires in the now, we get closer and closer to their manifestation.... We can feel it happening by a feeling of excitement or tingling in our bodies.... It is an amazing journey!

RinchenChodron predicts:

I will dance, travel, date and meditate more this year!

A better Haiti

PreS-K. An elemental story gets a new setting in this quiet, heartfelt picture book about a child who plants a seed and watches it grow. Facile, a boy in Haiti, struggles to grow a tree on the bare mountainside as a gift for his new baby sister, Lucia. The first sprout is eaten by a goat; the second is washed away by a rainstorm; then a scrub fire kills his tiny tree. The baby gets sick, and Mama takes her far away to a hospital. While they are gone, Facile builds a circle of stone to protect the sprout as it grows strong--a "gift of hope," which is ready when Lucia finally comes home. Williams draws on her work in Haiti to tell the details of hardship, and Saport's simple, beautiful charcoal-and-pastel double-page spreads show first the solitary child against the red-brown mountain and later the white stones surrounding glorious green foliage. The realistic personal triumph brings home the conservation message.
