Club Cool

In the middle of the central Florida heat, sometimes you just want to duck into a store and cool off during a trip to Walt Disney World. Of course, sometimes just ducking into a store doesn't help you get refreshed, and you may not want to spend money on a beverage.

Well, if you're in Epcot's Future World you're in luck! Just make your way over to Club Cool near the Fountainview Ice Cream shop, and you're in for an exciting world of flavors of soda from around the globe!

A Refreshing Stop

A History of Club Cool

In the early 2000's, a mysterious new attraction opened in Future World. Called Ice Station Cool, it was set in what appeared to be a glacial wall, and outside was a life-sized snowcat snow vehicle, whose treads had features in the shapes of Coke bottles. Once inside, you'd discover the frozen remains of Refreshus Maximus, a Neanderthal-like primitive man, frozen with a bottle of Coca-Cola just out of his grasp. In the main attraction, a multitude of soda fountains were available for you to walk up to and sample sodas from various countries around the world.

In 2005, Ice Station Cool closed down and was re-themed to Club Cool. The new attraction was far less "themed" and was more like a colorful Coca-Cola themed store with fun top 40 music playing, colorful lights swirling, and the same exotic sodas as before. I know what you're thinking - certainly they can't be giving this away for free, or the lines must be incredibly long to get in. While the store does get a little chaotic on the busiest days, you can usually get a sample or two of every single flavor with little or no hassle, and it is completely free. Of course, there is a vending machine for full-sized Coke products (unfortunately, not any of the foreign flavors), as well as a counter to order frozen Coke beverages! (Perhaps what the scientists at Ice Station Cool were researching?)

So what flavors of soda do they have in this place? Everything from apple soda from Mexico (my personal favorite) to watermelon soda from China, you'll find something for every palate here. One thing to keep in mind - Beverly from Italy is an aperitif, and very bitter, especially when compared to the sweet sodas that surround it. I'm normally a bit more mean about this soda and encourage first-timers to drink it, but I'll let my readers in on the little secret - and if you want to have a little fun with your friends and family with you, I recommend you do the same! If you need a little pick-me-up, be sure to take a sip of Mezzo Mix, Germany's offering, as it is the only soda that contains caffeine. If you want to check out the full menu, look below, and if you've tried these before, be sure to vote!

Special Considerations

Kid & Handicap Friendliness

- This attraction is suitable for all ages, as long as you make sure they don't drink more soda than you'd prefer, since it's free and unlimited.

- Club Cool is accessible by wheelchair and motorized scooters.
