MyWDW: What's A Hidden Mickey?

Ranked #1,700 in Travel & Places, #62,537 overall

The Mouse is Everywhere!

As you wander around any given Disney park, you are certain to notice all the amazing theming - the things that make you feel like you have been transported to a different place, time, or both. However, what you may not notice are little details that the Imagineers leave behind - things like their names, birthdays, or little references to other things. The most famous of these "signatures" at Disney parks are the Hidden Mickeys - mostly in the form of three circles that make up the iconic Mickey Mouse head.

Many websites and even books have been dedicated to this subject, and each of my MyWDW lenses contains some hints to find hidden Mickeys on a given attraction, or at a particular restaurant, but here we shall look at a few of my favorites.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Planetary Mickey

This side-profile Mickey can be found in the queue to the Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin attraction at Magic Kingdom. This particular attraction actually features several hidden Mickeys in its queue alone - see if you can find them all on your next trip to Disney World!

Viking Hidden Mickey

The Bravest Viking of All

I find this to be one of the most amusing hidden Mickeys in the parks - found in the large mural in the queue to Norway's Maelstrom attraction in Epcot. It puts something of a damper on the Vikings' fierce reputation to see one donning Mouseketeer ears!

The World's Largest Hidden Mickey

The Biggest Mouse You'll Ever See

This Hidden Mickey is only visible from the sky - it consists of the entry way to Hollywood Studios and the Echo Lake area, though some of its details have been lost to more recent construction, it is still a rather impressive sight!

Tree of Life

This Mickey Will Grow On You

This Hidden Mickey is actually rather remarkably difficult to find - especially consider its massive size. It took me quite some time to find it, but I was quite happy when I did. Searching through all the beautiful etchings on the Tree of Life, you can not only find this Mickey, you can also find your favorite animal amongst its 325 carvings.

How fun. Walt Disney was an amazing man with remarkable ideals. I don't think he ever grew up ----> thank goodness for that!

My favorite hidden Mickey is in the eye of a possum on a mural at Rafiki's Planet Watch. I got a really good up close picture of it. I love finding hidden Mickeys and point them out to everyone. Great lens.

It was a game with us when we were kids as to who could find the most when we were at Disneyland. Disney World hadn't been built yet.
