The nails are made of keratin derived from the proteins amino acid and can be used to diagnose ones health. Vitamins and mineral deficiency can be seen on the nails, even other diseases on areas like the immune system.

In the past, some of the ancestors use the nails as a yardstick on the social status. Long nails signifies that there are no hard work done by the person, therefore they have the higher status in the society. Asian men on earlier times consider the long nails as a basis of masculinity.

Fungus is microorganism that does not need sunlight to grow. They spread and thrive on moist and warm areas and have the ability to be dormant for few weeks. Since they are moist loving microorganisms, they are often found on public areas particularly on warm seasons like summer. They can be contacted in public swimming pools, toilets and other places that the public frequents.

The nail, particularly the toenails are the most frequent target of fungus. When the fungus gets into the feet, it can grow and spread on the toenails, therefore infecting the area. Although sometimes the hand nails get infected too, the toenails are the most affected because it directly has contact on floors and moist area.

How to Prevent and Cure Nail Fungus?

The most basic regimen to prevent fungal infection is proper hygiene. Like the skin, the nails need scrubbing and moisturizing too. Because it is the least seen among parts of the body, the toenails suffers from tight shoes and unclean socks that brings in dirt to the spaces of the nail and nail beds.

Nails are often subjected of abuse because of fashion. Nail polish, although not directly causes the infection should be used in moderation. Nail polish can trap the fungi in the nail plates and therefore let it thrive there. Sometimes, people use the nail polish to hide the nail fungus that forms distortion and ugly look on the nail. The nail should be given a "breather" once in awhile from harsh chemicals; the nail polish contains chemicals that can weaken the nail.

Prevention is to keep an antifungal solution like ZetaClear that can be used once the signs of fungal infections are observed. Immediate action to kill the fungi can prevent the spread of the infection. ZetaClear is composed of natural essential oils that have antiseptic abilities and can eliminate fungi. It also releases soothing smell that neither feminine nor medicinal. It has a clean smell and penetrates even the back part of the nail plate.
