"It is the food which you furnish to your mind
that determines the whole character of your life."
--Emmet Fox

Recipe: A union of ingredients to bring about a new whole, a transformation. It is the quality of those ingredients that determine the level of that transformation as surface (shallow) or deep (core). In reformation, the purpose is to recreate that transformation at a different level.

Naked: Bare, virgin, natural, unrefined

Sweets: Pleasing to the senses; a pleasant experience

Yoga: Union; a method for becoming one with the natural state.

While that last term is not part of the title, used as an analogy, yoga is known to calm the nervous system and balance the body, mind, and spirit. It can therefore help prevent specific diseases and maladies by keeping the energy meridians open and life energy flowing. This is the theory behind Naked Sweets as well--using food as medicine that enhances energy flow in the body rather than impeding it. Your body need not spend time getting rid of "poisons" that you ingest. All your food should be nutritious and energizing, and this includes dessert! Recipes in Naked Sweets are naturally high in beneficial antioxidants and enzymes, which assist with the overall health and functioning potential of the body.

This book is intended to be a makeover of desserts you have known and loved throughout your life, as well as trying a few new things you might not have tried otherwise. I've thought about the most offending ingredients that have made us think of dessert as something to enjoy in small quantities once in a while, such as sweet things are not good for you. We know that sugar can wreak havoc on the body, but I believe it is more of how the dessert has evolved in its processed, refined state, rather than dessert in its natural state combined with a boost of creative synthesis that leaves this natural state fairly undisturbed.
