Francois Nars grew up dreaming about fashion and makeup. He attended Carita Makeup School in Paris and moved to New York City in 1984 where he collaborated with many of the top designers Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabanna, and many more.

He first started out launching a collection of lipsticks at Barneys in 1994. His very first NARS advertising campaign came in 1996 which was the beginning of a makeup empire that we know and love today.
