What do NASCAR DOLLARS and Author Sharyn McCrumb have in common?

Dale Earnhardt, Sr.! That's What!

Six Degrees of Separation (or Kevin Bacon - whatever)!  Dale, Sr. touched (or was close to) my Talladega Superspeedway dollars and Sharyn McCrumb's creative genius!

In this lens I will tell you how I got the $$$ - hey! NASCAR history! Find ways you can use the dollars. How you can buy this unique NASCAR memorabilia for your very own.

Also, I have included some information on two "racy"  books by author Sharyn McCrumb. One has the ghost of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. as a character.

Once in a while I find some unique Dale, Sr. "thingy" (for example a McDonald's with a Dale mural) and add it to this lens. (You will be surprised with all the trivia here!)

Be sure to check out the YouTube video tributes to Dale, Sr. at the bottom of this lens.

How Did I Get These NASCAR Dollars?

These NASCAR $$$ were used as celebration confetti in the winner's circle at the Winston 500 October 17, 1999 Race at Talladega Superspeedway. These $$$ commemorate the 30th anniversary of the superspeedway and states this on the bill.

Dale Ernhardt, Sr. was the winner of that race.

At the time, my husband was a photographer employed by NASCAR. He picked up as many of the dollars as he could, brought them home, and stored them. They are a really neat collectible. They are also in near-perfect condition. Each $$$ measures 7"x 3".
The colors of the ink are red, black and metallic silver. The paper is Solid Green.

Here is a picture of my husband with Dale, Sr.(see it to the right). It was not taken on the day the dollars were collected, but at the next race that Dale won. The picture in the ad is just a cropped portion from a group photo of Dale and other photographers who happened to be in the Winner's Circle that day. Mr. Earnhardt saw how hard these guys were working and jumped a fence, handed the trophy to my husband and said so the crowd could hear, "Now you (meaning race officials and sponsors) take a picture of this!"

It was a great day for my husband. One he will always remember.

A Closer Look at the Talladega Dollars

Above you see a picture of the front and the back of the NASCAR dollars. As stated before, the dollars are printed on solid green paper. The gray printing is metallic silver.

Of course, the actual dollars do not have "sample" written on them. Believe it or not, I have been asked.

A McDonalds With A NASCAR Theme!!!

NASCAR McDonalds in Alabama!

Hey, yall. I discovered a NASCAR themed McDonalds in Phenix City, Alabama with a mural for Dale, SR.

Its address is: 1134 280 Bypass Phenix City, AL 36867.

What fun! It even had a display case with NASCAR diecast cars. Phenix City is south of Auburn/Opelika on Highway 280 heading toward Columbus, GA. Nice and Clean fast food Restaurant. Stop in and gawk at all the NASCAR stuff.
