NASCAR License Plates Rock

This happened to me one sunny day in Florida because of a NASCAR license plate.

Little did I know that on this August afternoon, I would meet two strangers who would become some of my best friends.

On my way south from Savannah, Georgia to Miami, my stomach was growling and begging for food because I had been driving since 9:30 AM on I-95.

As I eased off I-95 to the rest stop in Jacksonville, I parked my Torch Red 2006 Ford Mustang GT as close to the food court as I could. I was only a few feet away from my car when I instinctively looked back at it. I'm sure you've done the same thing yourself many time---right?

God, how I love this car.

300 horsepower, 4.6 liter engine, 281 cubic inches, 18-inch premium aluminum Bullitt wheels, etc. Can you tell that I am passionate about my car.

But, I'm getting off track here---no NASCAR pun intended.

The owners of the black Ford 150 parked next to me were just getting into their truck to leave and get back on the road. It was then that I noticed their NASCAR license plate.

There it was, big as life, the colorful NASCAR license plate of good old #43, Bobby Labonte.

I got to talking to Bill and Maggie Harrison, the owners of that proud NASCAR license plate, and it turned out we all were from the same state---North Carolina.

How cool was that to meet another great NASCAR fan from my home State just because of the #43 Bobby Labonte NASCAR license plate.

Bill, Maggie and I went back into the rest stop restaurant.

They had another cup of coffee as I consumed my usual burger and fries. We talked for over an hour about our NASCAR race experiences and how much we love the sport of auto racing.

And to think we met all because of their NASCAR license plate.

Over the years we have kept in touch and we have become good friends.
