What Is A NASCAR SAFER Barrier?
This Saves Many NASCAR Drivers From Serious Injuries And Death
You know as well as I do that safety has always been a big NASCAR concern.Up until the introduction in 2002 of the NASCAR SAFER barrier at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, solid concrete walls around NASCAR tracks were the cause of many deaths and severe injuries to drivers.
For years drivers had complained that there must be a better way to make high impact wall collisions safer.
The answer is amazing and simple. It's the----------

Who Created The NASCAR SAFER Barrier?
An Amazing Story About NASCAR SAFER Barriers
Everyone in NASCAR knew that something had to be done to improve NASCAR Safety. The biggest question was "How"? The NASCAR SAFER barrier all started in the mind of a University of Nebraska researcher named Dr. Dean Sicking.
Working on technology focused on all aspects of highway safety in 1998, Dr. Sicking and his team developed a system to greatly reduce the impact on the body of drivers during a high speed collision with the barrier.
Dr. Sicking and his team were given the NASCAR Award Of Excellence in 2003 for their efforts.

Simple But Effective
Dr. Sicking could probably explain to you and me why the NASCAR SAFER barrier works by using a bunch of complicated mathematical equations that neither you nor I could understand.Fortunately, there is a better way for you and me to understand.
Here's the simple explanation of how the NASCAR SAFER barrier works.
To give NASCAR drivers a better chance of survival, the SAFER barrier is made up of steel tubes and pads of hard foam. What they do is absorb and transfer the energy from the impact into the steel tubes and hard pads.
Plus, the NASCAR Car Of Tomorrow helps to reduce driver injuries also.
Science and NASCAR are a great match, don't you think so?

Where To Put NASCAR SAFER Barriers First?
This Answer May Surprise You
All NASCAR tracks were faced with the same question.NASCAR officials asked, "Where do we start construction first on each track for the NASCAR SAFER barrier?"
The answer was very simple actually.
NASCAR expects determined which areas on each race track sustained the most frequent collisions.
Those were the sections of the race track that would be constructed first.
The remaining sections of the NASCAR SAFER barrier would follow.
That makes sense doesn't it?

Did NASCAR hesitate to install the SAFER barriers? Not at all.
As soon as this new technology became available, the NASCAR SAFER barrier was authorized to be used at all NASCAR facilities.
NASCAR officials wasted no time making the change to this great improvement in NASCAR driver safety. And because of this they deserve our thanks and admiration.
Well done guys!!!!

Hardest Impact ever, LIVE. w/ C.O.T. 185mph into wall
so far the hardest impact taken by the car of tomorrow while a driver was in it, oppose to test crashes, over 180 mph straight into the wall at turn 4 after blowing a right front tire and shooting himself into the safer barrior
