Experience All the NASCAR Thrills With Your NASCAR Scanner

You are probably just like me when it comes to NASCAR.

If you are a NASCAR fanatic, a NASCAR scanner is a must have item. Personally, I just can't be without mine. Your NASCAR scanner will help you to understand what's going on with each individual team and gives you a better feel for the race. Or to put it another way, it makes you feel like you are actually down on the track experiencing the race up close.

What You Need To Know About NASCAR Scanners

If you are buying a NASCAR scanner for the first time there are a few things that you really need to know. The fact is, I was confused when I went looking for my NASCAR scanner, so I am going to make this as simple for you as I can.

The first thing that you need to do is not get overwhelmed by all the different models, features and prices. When you take buying a NASCAR scanner one step at a time, you'll find that it will make your life and your purchase must easier. I'm here to help you make the right decision that is best for you. OK?

First Things First

This is the first question you have to ask yourself, "How much of a Nascar fanatic are you"? Would you call yourself an occasional race fan? An average race fan? Or are you a die-hard NASCAR race fan who attends the entire race weekend?

Obviously, you should buy the NASCAR scanner that is best for your needs.

For example, if you are just the occasional NASCAR fan, then a scanner with less than 100 channels should be just right for you. You won't be able to listen to everyone, but it will still give you access to exciting parts of the race that you are sure to enjoy.

If you consider yourself to be just an average NASCAR fan, then the scanner you should buy needs to have a minimum of 100 channels. You'll be surprised at how much more you will enjoy the race when you are listening to your favorite drivers and pit crew as things are actually happening.

Everyone who is a die-hard NASCAR fan knows, that a scanner with 200 channels or more is exactly what they need. So if you fall into this category of NASCAR fans, you definitely will need to get a NASCAR scanner with 200 or more channels.

Here's Some NASCAR Scanner Stuff Made Simple For You

One thing that you have to understand is what frequency bands your scanner can tune into. Most of the drivers use a frequency in the 450 to 470 MHZ range. You don't really need to understand the technical meaning of MHZ to enjoy your NASCAR scanner. Remember, I said I was going to keep this simple for you.

The fact is, the store salesperson where you buy your NASCAR scanner will know what it means and will give you the right product. Or, if you buy your scanner online, the frequency range will be part of the product description. Either way you win.

What Does It Mean If Your Scanner Is "Audio Modified"?

This is one of the least important features to me. What it means is that your scanner has been modified to increase the volume. Certainly, if you find that the outside noise is too great, you should invest in a high-quality headset to block out the outside noise. You can also find headsets online along with your scanner.

What Type Of Battery Do I Need For My NASCAR Scanner?

Depending upon the brand name scanner you buy, there are two options for batteries. First is the rechargeable battery pack. What you must remember about this type of battery is to make sure that it is charged prior to race day. Otherwise you could end up disappointed as you're sitting in the stands at race time.

Your other battery option is the use of standard AA batteries. In the long run these will cost you more money over the years. So, you decide what's most important to you---rechargeable convenience or a higher price over time for AA batteries.

You just never know.

Maybe someday we'll meet at a NASCAR race and swap stories about our great times and things we have heard on our NASCAR scanners. It will be nice meeting you and maybe enjoying a race together.

Till then-----enjoy your next NASCAR race with your family and friends.
