Nashville is a really fun place to visit. I live not far from Nashville, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I visit there at least once a week, so I have become pretty familiar with it.

I made this Nashville Tennesse logo using a stock guitar at Clkr.com and my Corel Draw program.

The History of Nashville

This is from the Visit Music City Site.

The Parthenon, Nashville, TennesseeNashville has a long history. It was first called Nashborough. It was the 16th state of the Union in 1796. Some of its most famous citizens were Andrew Jackson and James C. Polk.

Nashville is most famous for its Grand Old Opry, its country music, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium, the Frist Center or the Visual Arts, the Opryland Hotel, and lots more.

Tourists also love to see the downtown area, the Titans, Union Station, the General Jackson showboat, Music Row, the Parthenon, the Capital, Cheekwood, the Nashville Arcade, and many other famous spots.

Music Row is also a popular destination. It is located between Belmont and the Musica statue.

You can find out more about Nashville's history at the Visit Music City site.

This statue of Athena is inside the Parthenon.

Isn't she beautiful?

Athena in the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee

I was flabbergasted when I first stood in front of this statue. It was made to look like the original statue in Greece, at the original Parthenon.

There is a lot to do in exciting Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

Here's a picture that shows that excitement.

Letters of Nashville

Nashville is famous for its parks, its concerts, its nightlife, and its many activities. It has a thriving artistic community too. There just is so much to do there.

Nashville has great restaurants too, including the Loveless Cafe, Rottiers near Ellington Place, I Dream of Weenie near Five Points in East Nashville, and the International Market near Belmont, just to name a few of my favorites.

Nashville has Gentrification areas like Germantown and East Nashville, where people are buying affordable houses and redoing them, and beautiful old areas like downtown and gorgeous Belle Meade. It is fun just driving around to see all the neat areas of Nashville too.

I found this photo at Flickr. It is called Letters of Nashville.

It is by SeeMidTN.com (aka Brent) / Brent Moore, who is from Smyrna, TN, USA.

I have been to the Opry once. My Aunt and cousin from out west came to visit, and we all went there. It was her dream to see the Grand Old Opry. I was so thrilled to be able to go too. It was so fun. They have two great big screens up in the auditorium so you can see the stars up close.

Here are some more photos of places in Nashville.

You will see more of why I like Nashville from these photos.

The Nashville Arcade

This is an old structure, still going strong.

I love the windows here, and the wonderful feel of the place. It is definitely worth a look.

The Frist Museum

This is a fun place to visit too.

The front of the Frist Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Did you know the Frist Museum used to be a Post Office? The decor inside and out is a beautiful Art Deco.

This Frist Museum photo original is by ktylerconk, Kathleen Tyler Conklin. I cropped and rotated it. Her photostream is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ktylerconk/. She lives in Baltimore, MD, USA.

And here is a photo of the Nashville skyline.

The building at the far right is known as the Batman Building.

I see this skyline every time I go to visit my Mom in Nashville. A lot of times it is a little foggy, like this photo seems to be. I like it though!

This beautiful photo of the downtown Nashville skyline is by somegeekintn / Casey Fleser who lives in Nashville, TN, USA. His profile page on Flickr is here: http://www.flickr.com/people/somegeekintn/.

And here is one of my favorites.

It is Nashville at night. It is so beautiful!

And then there was the flood...

Here are two photos of the flood of 2010.

You can get an idea of just how much digging out Nashville had to do! For awhile, nobody went anywhere...

Here is the flooding at the Nashville Coliseum.

You can see it is like a lake.

This part of Nashville took awhile to drain.

And here is just part of downtown!

It really got deep in Nashville.

Downtown flooding in Nashville, Tennessee

There was flooding all over, and even at the Country Music Hall of Fame. They rescued a lot of things there.

The Opryland Hotel had a lot of damage, but fixed it.

People's basements were flooded and people had lots of things out on the streets that just was too wet to salvage. The cleaning companies did a good business right afterwards too, I am sure.

This downtown Nashville flood picture is by stephenyeargin / Stephen Yeargin at Flickr. He lives in Nashville, TN, USA. Find out more about him here: http://www.flickr.com/people/stephenyeargin/.

But now things are more back to normal.

Nashville is back in business.

Some pretty trees at Centennial Park, 2009.The flooding has gone down, and many people have cleaned up.

Most businesses are back in business after being closed for awhile. PLUS the farmer's market is open too.

This photo is of some lovely trees at Nashville's Centennial park.

Here are some interesting music and Nashville items from Amazon.

I have also included a guitar (both kinds) just in case.

These are current Amazon items.

This is such an interesting article - I had forgotten about the flooding in Nashville. The pictures showed such a lot of water where it didn't belong! Congratulations on being featured on the 50 States monsterboard!

Very good Lens. I live in Murfreesboro and have lived in Nashville. Two other places of interest worth mentioning are the River Front area along 1st & 2nd Avenue and the Bicentennial Mall near the Capitol. Nicely done.

Nashville is such a cool city! It really is a fantastic place to visit. There is something there for everyone, even those who don't love country music, although, I can't imagine who that would be. I do miss Opryland though :) Oh, yes, btw, I like Bowling Green too. Six Flags is calling my name even as we speak :)

Me and my man we like all of it in Nashville Music, people, food, weather, the zoo all is so different against sweden. The bad thing is that it takes a hole a lot of time to get there from Sweden. but it is worth it LOL. We will comming back soon.

I am so glad you had a good time in Nashville, and very glad you are coming back soon. I like Nashville a lot too. Someday I hope to get to see Sweden. I have heard wonderful things about it. We have a lot of people of Swedish descent who now live in Wisconsin, where I grew up, so I guess I know Sweden a bit through them, their families, homes, art, crafts, food, and shops. :-) They are very nice people.
