Nashville Star Ends with the Sixth Season
This is the sixth season of Nashville Star is over. Nashville Star has been cancelled.
This talent search for the next great music star was a must see, in my humble opinion. I loved seeing all of the fabulous talent, listening to the judges critique them and anticipating their next performance. The talent competition was open to 16 year olds and older. Their final year they had groups, also.
Past contestants include Chris Young, Buddy Jewel, Erika Jo, Miranda Lambert, Lance Miller and Angela and Zac Hacker. Buddy Jewell debuted his self-titled CD at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Miranda Lambert became a household name with her album "Kerosene".

Awesome talent search!
Nashville Star is an American reality television program. It was transmitted during mid-2008 on NBC, following five seasons on USA Network. It premiered on March 8, 2003, and its five seasons on USA made it the longest-running competition series on cable television.Nashville Star TV Series -News, Show Updates and Events - USA Network In Canada, the show aired on CMT through season 5, but moved to E! beginning with season 6. CMT in the United States reaired each episode in season 6.[http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080609/ENT10/806090312 CMT gets repeats of 'Nashville Star']
It is similar to American Idol, in that performers must sing to impress both celebrity judges and the public via call-in and/or internet votes. Unlike American Idol, however, the performers are limited to country music. This restriction was relaxed for Season 6, allowing for the finalists to choose from many genres of music, but the songs were arranged to maintain a country sound.
On March 13, 2009, it was confirmed that the series had been canceled by NBC and would not be returning for a seventh season.2008 - 2009 Cancelled Shows: NBC Cancels 10 Television Series

- Nashville Star was cancelled by NBC and to my knowledge no other network picked it up. I really hate that because it was a wonderful opportunity for Country singers.
