National Tooth Fairy Day

If I could be any fairy, I would want to be the tooth fairy. She is pretty, she has a steady job, and she has her own day, National Tooth Fairy Day. Much better than that Tinkerbell fairy who is always practically dying unless children clap!

National Tooth Fairy Day is celebrated on February 28, or August 22nd, or BOTH. And why not? She deserves it. I am sure you are wondering the best way to celebrate National Tooth Fairy Day. You have come to the right place!

I did my best to get a photo of the real tooth fairy. She is quite shy. I caught a glimpse of her and she looks very much like this representation.

How to Celebrate National Tooth Fairy Day

The tooth fairy is one of those magical beings who mostly live in the realm of childhood. So anyone who has a child should make an effort to celebrate the tooth fairy. You won't get anything extra out of it, your quarters won't be any shinier, but she will appreciate it. Appreciation is really the only thing you can give a fairy. So what should you do for National Tooth Fairy Day?
  1. Draw the tooth fairy a picture! The tooth fairy loves pictures. She gets them often when children lose teeth, but she would love to get one at any time.
  2. Write the tooth fairy a letter. This is an especially good idea for slightly older children. A simple note of appreciation, wish her a good day, and that is it!
  3. A great idea for socially conscious parents and children - buy toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste to donate to your local homeless shelter. Contact a local shelter and find out what they need and make arrangements.
  4. Have a tooth fairy party! It doesn't have to be fancy, and unfortunately the tooth fairy probably won't be able to attend, but she would still be honored. Do whatever your children would enjoy best: sandwiches, cake, lemonade, whatever!
  5. Write a thank you letter to your dental hygienist and/or dentist. Dental health is extremely important for your whole body. The tooth fairy knows that healthy baby teeth will most likely lead to healthy adult teeth. She would appreciate it if you honored your dental health professionals.

Books about the Tooth Fairy

Another idea for a present for your child for National Tooth Fairy Day, or maybe when they lose their first tooth, is a book about the tooth fairy.

Oh, for anytime really. Books are, hands down, the best gift you can ever give a child!

My kids loved the Tooth Fairy, but the reward for a lost tooth when my kids were small was a lot less than the tooth fairy leaves today! :) Happy Tooth Fairy Day!
