Public polls show massive opposition to the cards yet the government keeps pushing for them.
Here, I detail all the reasons why we should not allow these liberty extinguishing cards.
What are the cards and why are they so bad?
In the USA and Great Britain, politicians are pushing for a national id card. The cards will incrementaly contain peoples photos, thumb and / or finger prints, DNA profile and an rfid chip that can track you wherever you go.Initially the cards will not be compulsory HOWEVER in time it will be compulsory to have, and carry the cards wherever you go.
People who fail to comply will be prosecuted and charged with a criminal offense.
A card that tracks your EVERY move has got to be the biggest violation of freedom and privacy in the history of the planet.
Despite petitions, polls and massive public opposition, the governments of the USA and Great Britain keep pushing.
Terrorism - a false reason
The UK and USA governments claim that prevention of terrorism is the main reason for the cards. The fact is that the 9/11 and 7/7 terrorist attacks would NOT have been prevented by national ID cards as all the perpetrators were in their respective countries legally when they attacked.
Infact, no terrorist attack in the history of Great Britain or the USA or the world for that matter would have been prevented by National ID cards.
How could they? Really think about it - just take a few moments to mull this over and really think about it.
A card that says who you are and where you are stops NOTHING.
What the cards really do
Encroach on our privacy and freedoms, they also give the powers that be an immense power over us and hands them the ability to oppress us to a level of Orwellian proportion.None of their reasons justify tracking the entire populations every move, every act, every deed. We are supposed to be a free people, a free society - they have no right to this information.
The danger of incrementalism
Incrementalism is the process of achieving a large goal by taking many small steps over time. Governments use this technique for all oppressive and controversial laws as not to cause a public outcry. For example, if the government introduced a law saying that they can hold people for a year with no charge, there would be a public outcry or uprising, people just wouldn't accept it.
However - if they increase the amount of time they can hold a person by a couple of weeks once every few years, the act is far less likely to cause a public uprising.
The end result is the same yet the public opposition is minimal.
The danger of ID cards with chips that can track you everywhere you go becomes more apparent when you think about the potential for incrimentalism.
If people stop carrying the cards, where are they going to want to put the rfid chips next?
What can you do?
Spread the word, refuse the cards.People are very opposed to the cards, the only way they can be implemented is if people accept them.
Fight the cards every setp of the way
Don't do it alone, get your friends and family on board.
Spread the word with cafepress
Id card - books and media
vote - do you want a national id card or RFID chip
Have your say
