Real ID Cards being Imposed. What's next, microchips? (National ID)
The Real ID Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Bush on May 11, 2005, mandates that all U.S. citizens will receive a National ID card by May of 2008. Deadline is pushed back to December 2009, with each state fighting against it.
Without this Real ID, you won't...
- Travel across state lines - Board a commercial airplane - Enter any federal building - Open a bank account - Apply for Social Security - Apply for Medicare/Medicaid -(PAPERS PLEASE.)
The Real ID is a National ID because the information is linked to computers across the country. Plans and efforts are being made now by global corporations and the U.S government to turn this advanced technology into a way to track our daily activities-and keep us all on Big Brother's short leash. Be very concerned about this coming into law. (Now postponed until Dec 2009). Let your congressman know they should vote against it.
Portions of the Real ID Act pertaining to states were scheduled to take effect on May 11, 2008, three years after the law passed, but the deadline had been extended to December 31, 2009. We have a new Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, we'll wait to see if deadlines are changed.
(Thankfully) These states have opposed:
Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington have joined Maine and Utah in passing legislation opposing Real ID. However it should be noted that most of these actions are non-binding resolutions rather than acts of law, leaving the decision about compliance to the governors themselves.
Similar resolutions are pending in Alaska, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
States working to comply with the law, such as Illinois. In announcing the new regulations, (The former) Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff cited California, Alabama and North Dakota as examples of states that had made progress in complying with Real ID.
Real ID, a Real Nightmare.
Real ID - A Real Nightmare
From ACLU.TV: The federal Real ID Act may be on its way to your local motor vehicles office, where it would bring longer lines, worse service, bureaucratic nightmares, and higher fees -- and turn your driver's license into a true federalized national identity card that will be used to invade our privacy in ways Americans have never seen before. A battle is now raging over Real ID in state legislatures across the nation, with a growing number of states rebelling against this expensive (and unfunded) scheme. The piece features Bill Cattorini, a retired Chicago fireman who has been caught in a bureaucratic limbo due to a discrepancy between his birth date as listed on his driver's license and the date on his social security card. That was never an issue until Illinois began trying to comply with some parts of Real ID. To learn more visit aclu.tv/realid

Gov. Trying Desperately to Slide in the National I.D. - States Must Fight!
Everyone else must have the real ID license by 2014. If your state participated now, your driver's license must be the Real ID to board an airplane. Contact your legislator to fight. 17 states or more were fighting as of Jan 2008.

Don't let it happen to the USA.

We still have time to fight the Real ID! Email or call your congressman to vote against it.
Will Obama let the real id fade away?

"No doubt about it, Computerworld's article Obama administration to inherit a real mess on Real ID is spot on, not to mention the even more expensive messes faced by the states in dealing with the Bush era, high-tech drivers license program intended to somehow fight terror. But before you start trying to dig up your birth certificate so you can get your license renewed, remember that before she became President-elect Obama's nominee to run the Department of Homeland Security, Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, signed a bill barring her state from implementing the Real ID Act...." Friday January 2, 2009 (about.com)

- False prophet, is that like a man raise from the pits of hell from a joint hevenly effort - making the boy look like a key? And something about a book, do we have it?
