Awesome Gear from America's Amazing National Parks
Arizona High Country
Not that far from Phoenix, it's a whole different world
Just a few hours north of Phoenix, the environment is totally different. I never knew Arizona had giant Ponderosa Pine Forests, but the area north of Payson is a spectacular place. And in the National Forest you can camp right on the Mogollon Rim with views that can't be beat, and if you're lucky there's no people around. Here's where we camped on the rim in July, really amazing! And of course we had a great campfire too! (We also stayed up there in June when we met Wayne the Spider Bounty Hunter who showed us a unique Blond Tarantula)

Homolivi Ruins State Parks Hopi Festival
Amazing Dancers
I've been inspired by the southwest lately and have been designing Petroglyph T-Shirts based on Hopi designs, so i was thrilled when i got to attend a Hopi festival at Homolovi Ruins State Park where I got to watch young Hopi dancers recreating public dances. It was very hot, but a fun time!
This young Hopi dancer was a charmer!

Grand Canyon National Park Summer 2007
Fun adventures, camping at Desert View
Okay, what's not to love about being at the Grand canyon for the 4th time? Great camping at Desert View campground, fun exploring the Tower and hiking along the rim. This photo is at sunset from a secret place. This Photo is available on a Grand Canyon Manget, CLICK HERE
Also, the first appearance of the campground ORACLE as i called it, a computerized, credit-card accepting check-in machine that makes volunteers and park rangers obsolete. I could hear it "talking" to people through the campground all night, telling them how to swipe their credit card and what to do with the receipt it would instantly print. i must admit i would press the buttons every time i passed it to see how confused i could make it. i wanted to see if i could get to say "DANGER stand back" but it never did. it also should have said "Welcome to the Oracle" (but it didn't say that, it did talk you through the process however.) i laughed every time i heard it say something, but it was also a little weird to have a robotic ranger talking and glowing and printing in the middle of the beautiful night.
