Spirit Guides
Traditionally, within the spiritualist churches, spirit guides were often stereotyped ethnically, with Native Americans, Chinese or Egyptians being popular for their perceived ancient wisdom, saints, or enlightened individuals. Nevertheless, the term can also refer to Animal Spirit Totems, Angels, or nature spirits.
I decided to write this lens because of a conversation I was having on one of my blogs. I had mentioned something about my Spirit Guides and Animal Totems. From my own experiences, I will be honest here and say if it was not for my Spirit Guides and/or Guardian Angels I would NOT be sitting here writing this page.
These are my views and experiences. I am not a "Card" carrying Native American, I have never been taught traditions by anyone in a certain "Tribe" and/or "Clan". I have however been very "Blessed" to learn from many different people, including my own Spirit Guides while walking my path in this life.

We all have Spiritual Protectors
As a small child, I felt the safest while I was in the woods, or high in a tree. Nature has always been more to me than just the "outdoors" it has always been something completely different. I talk a little about this in my Lens The Journey to my Naming Ceremony. As odd or as unfortunate as it sounds, I have never really been a "people person" I suppose in my life, my comfort comes from the "Spiritual Aspect" of life.
Everything has energy
Everything in life has energy-a life force so to speak. The trees also known as the "Elders" not only can give us unconditional healing and comfort, but they can also be our teachers. I believe that the whole concept of this is "Trusting in your intuition" you must believe in you and follow through what feels right for you when it comes to your "Spiritual Walk". I have a strong connection to the white oak trees. I appreciate and honor all trees but I have a very strong connection with the them for many reasons. In a sense, the Oak Tree is one of my spirit guides. As you will read in my link: The Journey to my Naming Ceremony they are the ones who gave me the vision about the acorn and oak leaf necklace for my Naming Ceremony
The Oak tree is my own spiritual portal when I do Shamanic Journeys. I trust a 100% in their protection when I attach a spiritual cord to their roots that they will keep me safe. I can sit with my back against an Oak tree and my stress will drain away, or the pain in my back will ease up. All of this is possible because I believe in the energy of the tree and I believe they are one of my spirit guides.
Animal Totems
When I found this picture from photobucket, it could not be more perfect as a representation of two of my "Animal Spirit" totems. I wrote a lens called: Animal Spirit Totems where I go into detail about my own animal spirit totems, two being the Hawk and the Wolf. As time goes, and as we grow our totems will change but each animal spirit that comes into our life leaves a bit of its essence as it leaves and another one enters. The wolf has been with me over 20 years and the Hawk has been with me all of my life. For the last two years Dragonfly has entered my life.
Each animal spirit that comes to us, teaches us their medicine. They help us through experiences and they help us to understand things around us. Two books I strongly suggest are: Power Animals: How to Connect with Your Animal Spirit Guideby Steven Farmer and also Animal Speaks by: Ted Andrews.

Meeting your Spirit Guides
Spirit Guides
Willow my friend
Willow my friend who crossed over in 2005, who was a healer and studied Shamanism for many moons use to do a lot of spirit work with me. Whenever she was doing work on me or with me, a medicine man would appear. She always told me he would circle around me doing the whole process of whatever she was doing. My first comment was, "Willow, that must be one of your "Spirit Guides". "Nope, Oak without a doubt he is your's and very protective I must add." I have never had a vision of him or know his name but as I mentioned in my introduction I know I have never been alone.
My Reiki Guide
One day, I do not remember what attunement I had, I was meditating and ey-en-shu appeared to me. They explained they were my Reiki Guide and they would guide me through my Reiki. I wrote about the meeting of this Guide, but I will have to look back on a lot of journals to find the entry. I do remember that I had envisioned me in the middle of woods, sitting on a bench and to my side I seen this beautiful bright light with purple hues appear next to me. Iinshu is neither male nor female and is very wise, soft spoken and enveloped me in this unconditional shield of comfort. When I begin any session of Reiki, I always ask for Iinshu to be present.
In Conclusion
So how do you REALLY know this kind of experience is true or false? It is a matter of Believing in yourself, Trusting in yourself and Following your heart. Your intuition is the KEY factor is every one of these. Regardless, how much you are labeled as a "Fruit-Loop" you have to stand by your convictions. Your spiritual path is NOT something to argue about, it is personal, it is a part of your essence. To argue about this is a waste of energy for you and for others who do not believe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions-that is one of the things that makes life so wonderful. "
We pave the steps on our own path, we walk our path according to our life and our life choices.
Native American Quote
Honor the sacred.
Honor the Earth, our Mother.
Honor the Elders.
Honor all with whom we share the Earth:-
Four-leggeds, two-leggeds, winged ones,
Swimmers, crawlers, plant and rock people.
Walk in balance and beauty.

So in closing-A Spirit Guide is:
A spiritual being that helps you, protects you, guides you through situations when you are confused. Spirit Guides make you feel at ease and helps you to feel safe. They give you an unexplainable comfort that makes you feel everything is okay and will be okay, even through times when it seems as if your world is crashing down around you.
You must believe in YOU-trust in YOU even during the days you are down, sad and confused. Understand, you are never completely alone.

- I'm happy to have found this site. I feel quite at home. I've been in the process of spiritual evolution through many lives. However, I feel this one maybe my graduation. As you all may know, a shift in consciousness will take place soon. I hope when the time comes, That most if not all of humanity will be ready for this transition. Love and light always!

- Wow, this is incredible. Good to see a purple star on this one Eva. I do believe that there are forces that we cannot detect with our limited 5 senses. Some animals and those closer to nature (I feel) are 'tuned' into these energies (or spirits).

- The spirits good or bad do influence in some way and there are more instances of the experience if one is close to the nature like the Native American Indians.
