If your church or school is putting on a nativity play, Easter pageant or Christmas pageant, you'll want to make sure your angels, shepherds and wise men look the part.  There are a number of biblical costumes for both children and adults, to ensure that your play looks like the perfect Christmas card.

We've included links to a number of our costumes that are appropriate for the holiday season.  We've also put together some other resources in helping you plan your Christmas play. You'll find a selection of sites that include already created Christmas and Christian play scripts.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Mary and Joseph Costumes

"O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie ..."

The Virgin Mary and Joseph the carpenter are the central characters in traditional nativity plays. We have Mary costumes for both adults and children.

We also have a variety of costumes for Joesph as well as accessories like beards, wigs and sandals to complete the authentic first century look.

Shepherd Costumes for Children and Adults

"The First Noel, the angels did say, was to certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay ..."

Scenes with shepherds are fun to act out, especially if you don't have to wrangle actual sheep!. We have a number of different shepherd costumes, in all price ranges, for both children and adults. And you can complete the look of your shepherds with beards, wigs and other accessories.

Costumes for the Three Wise Men

"We three kings of Orient are bearing gifts that travel afar ..."

Melchior. Balthazar. Gaspar. The three wise men who came from the East. Not specifically named in the Bible, their names come from religious texts from the sixth century. The three magi have been immortalized in paintings and songs and are celebrated on Epiphany, the 6th of January, often with a costumed parade.

For the wise men in your nativity play, we have children's and adult magi costumes in both basic and deluxe versions. Your wise men will look as good as the gifts they bring the baby Jesus!

Angel Costumes and Angel Wings

"Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the plains ..."

A full angel chorus is a powerful reminder of the special time of the year. But whether you have one angel or several, they can sparkle and shine in one of these angel costumes.

We have angel costumes for toddlers, children, teens and adults, including plus size angels! And for those angels whose wings are a little droopy, we have an assortment of wings, including feather angel wings that can perk up last year's nativity costume.

Scripts and Other Ideas for Nativity Plays and Christmas Pageants

Need a little help getting started with your nativity play or Christmas pageant? There are some great ideas that Sunday Schools and other church groups have posted. Included are texts and stage directions as well as some alternative ideas to the traditional pageant.
Nativity Play - All Saints Milton Parish
This is a take on the Christmas story that is good for young teens who want something more in "their" language. Has witty angels, sarcastic shepherds and a bored donkey.
Nativity Play from Catholic Ireland
This is a script for a nativity play complete with a cast list and song recommendations for each act.
Christmas Story Scenes
Dovecot Sunday School shares their fun idea of doing a presentation of Nativity story scenes: instead of putting on a play, their students pose for key scenes from the Nativity story. These still shots are then presented in a slide show while someone narrates the story. Good for smaller Sunday schools and churches, or with especially young children.
Christmas Singing Skit
Cute, short Christmas skit by Marcia Taylor that incorporates different characters singing signature lines at key points in the dialogue.

Costumes for Herod, Roman Soldiers and Citizens of Judea

"Herod the King in his raging, charged he hath this day, his men of might, in his own sight, all children young to slay ..."

Herod and his Roman soldiers are definitely the bad guy in the nativity play, but they are an essential part of the story. We have costumes for adults and children who are playing the role of the Romans.

We also have costumes that would suit other citizens of Bethlehem, including the pivotal role of the innkeeper.
