Late in reading all these wonderful comments, thank you, Tipi, it's a labor of love, so much concern I have for people affected by weather...what we go through (in the intro picture) is so small compared to others.

Emergency Preparation and Ham Radio hobby are linked for strengthening safety on a community level. That's why I just did a lens on ham radio hobby. This is a wonderful lens. I voted "Like". Thanks so much.

It is indeed very sad to see the life taking disaster an Earthquake causes.
Life an be made safer if men give it a little bit of concern.

wow really helpful Lens, I wonder if there are some more real estate agencies commited to natural disasters emergencies, I mean, for instance in Canada there is this Winnipeg rentals agency which offers great prices whenever there is an emergency in Manitoba.

This is overwhelming, seeing all this together. Its hard enough to read the newspaper each evening and pray through the articles about all the people who have lost homes and loved ones and businesses, and more through these disasters. This lens puts it all together in one place. It's really heavy to consider the burdens of so many all at once. We often wonder how much the little bit we have to give will help against all the damage, but we do what we can.
  • happynutritionist May 4, 2010 @ 7:53 am | delete
Yes, it seems overwhelming...each of us can do what we can, everyone doing a little bit is helpful. Maybe we should also take seriously the day set aside on Thursday to pray. I did a page about that at http://www.squidoo.com/national-day-of-prayer
  • skiesgreen Apr 22, 2010 @ 10:23 pm | delete

Great lens to support people who have been affected by the deadly earthquake. God bless you for your efforts!
  • Brookelorren Jan 18, 2010 @ 7:00 pm | delete
Good job. While we usually have the means to build stronger buildings, a devastating earthquake or natural disaster could happen to all of us.
  • happynutritionist Jan 22, 2010 @ 9:34 am | delete
I think you are right about that...look at the flooding and mudslides in California, and the big earthquakes they've had...I remember another when I was young that happened in Alaska. But yes, the fragile construction in Haiti made things so much more difficult for them...even the big palace that looked pretty indestructible. Thanks for stopping by. ~claudia
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Jan 18, 2010 @ 4:53 am | delete
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti, and a blessing to all that offer an hand to anyone in need.

I wrote to Worldvision encouraging them to register as a Squidoo charity, since they have Paypal already set up (I donated to them). Probably too busy to get to that now, but maybe several months from now we can remind them.

Good work everyone on doing what we can! If only it were as easy to get the help and supplies there as it is the money, but before the internet, this kind of mobilization was impossible.
  • happynutritionist Jan 14, 2010 @ 10:32 pm | delete
I'm glad you did this, I was looking for them on the list. I have supported orphans around the world through them for many years. Thanks for your support and help!

Making a Squidoo lens is a great way to help get the word out when we feel helpless. I did that when El Salvador recently experienced extreme flooding. Focusing on the organizations that help in these situations is a great idea.
