Natural Pregnancy and Childbirth ~ The Best Start Your Baby Can Get

Having a natural pregnancy and childbirth is the best way a baby can start life.

What do I mean by Natural pregnancy? Eating healthy, attending child birth classes, creating a birth plan, decreasing your stress levels, learning relaxation techniques and other things that will help you manage labor pains.

What do I mean by Natural Childbirth? I mean having as little medical intervention as possible. None, really unless there is a medical emergency. Letting your body do what women's bodies have done since the beginning of time. Trusting yourself to have the strength to get through the process. Having a midwife and a doula with you through your birth to help you use birthing positions that will help you labor easier. Providing you with encouragement to breath through it.

The amazing feeling of holding a baby in your arms, that just came from your body, without the aid of drugs, or epidurals. The feeling of immense pride that your were able to let your body do what it knew how to do.

That's what I mean by Natural pregnancy and childbirth.

Let's take a look at how we get there from here!

Benefits of Natural Childbirth

1. You are free to move around, change positions, walk, go to the bathroom.

2. You can feel your body so you are better able to push and work with your body.

3. Pain tells you how to position yourself. For example, if you have back pain you know the baby may be posterior and you can use different positions to help the baby turn.

4. Faster Recovery after birth

5. Babies are more alert and more responsive to breastfeeding. They actually latch on quicker and nurse longer than medicated babies.

Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth

Here's a typical review of this book.

Every pregnant woman should read this book early in her pregnancy. It is packed full of clear, unbiased information and facts about the common medical interventions that take place during birth, why many of them are undesirable or even dangerous, and how they can be avoided.

It is fascinating to see how most of the research proves that medical procedures that American women have come to view as normal are in fact unnecessary. This book covers topics like Cesareans, the use of IVs during birth, pain medications, epidurals, episiotomies, and electronic fetal monitoring. It shows how such common beliefs as "It's better to have a surgical episiotomy cut than a natural tear" are in fact false, and why the medical profession has pushed them so frequently that they have become a "normal" part of giving birth.

This book cleared up a lot of questions that I had and made me decide very firmly that I would prefer a long and painful labor to an epidural, which might relieve my pain, but could also cause myself and, even worse, MY BABY, medical problems down the line.

Ina May's Guide To Natural Childbirth

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth

Amazon Price: $9.90 (as of 02/16/2012)Buy Now

Ina May is an amazing midwife. She started her midwife career out of necessity. She had started a cross country caravan with some friends and as they traveled women starting giving birth. It was in the 60s and they had no doctor, so Ina May became the midwife. I read of her amazing beginnings in Spiritual Midwifery (which is another of her books I recommend).

Her caravan settled in a place called The Farm in Tennessee. She was the midwife for all who lived on The Farm. Women even travel to The Farm to have Ina May birth their babies.

The first half of this book is full of natural childbirth stories from mothers who have birthed on The Farm.

The second half of the book walks the reader through the entire process, mostly with the aim of explaining why modern medical childbirthing procedures are not based on the mother's health and needs, but are designed for convenience of the medical establishment. Stuff like epidurals, amnios, fetal monitoring, pitocin, forceps, vacuum extractors, etc. all come under sustained assault. Gaskin makes a convincing case for most of her criticism, with plenty of good examples from historical texts and anthropological research.

Acupressure for Natural Childbirth

Photobucket

If you are looking for a natural way to induce labor, manage labor pain, shorten delivery time you are looking for Acupressure for Childbirth.

Simply pressing specific points on your body can quickly help you to start labor naturally.

Scientific evidence proves that natural labor induction with acupressure is safe and effective. Stimulation of specific acupressure points starts labor in upto 83% women within 48 hours, sometimes in 25 minutes.

Acupressure starts your labor by stimulating contractions, helping your cervix to dilate and getting your baby to descend.

Research shows that labor acupressure significantly shortens the delivery time. Women who use labor acupressure have a two hour shorter delivery time than the average.

Simple labor acupressure techniques give effective labor pain relief, without any risk of stopping your contractions.

Acupressure for childbirth is completely safe and a wonderful way to help you through your labor naturally.

I didn't have a natural birth--I had an epidural with horrible and long-lasting side effects and will never have one again. I am not sure that we'll be having another child, but if we do, I am having a midwife, doula, and a natural birth.

Wish I`d known about the pickle juice solution to heartburn when I was pregnant! I ate Tums like candy. My boys will never break bones because they`ve been overdosed with calcium since conception, lol.

Great lens! Gave you five stars. ;)

I was able to have all three of my children with no interventions, or drugs... and I would do it again in a second! It took alot of practice with meditating, and focusing my will and all that goes with guided meditation... but the part to note, is that it worked. I wouldn't say that my pain was unbearable, and my labours were quick. (the shortest being an hour and 25 minutes, and the longest being 3 hours).
