Is Natural Puppy Food Really All Natural?

Have you ever wondered if natural puppy food is really safer for your dog? All in all consuming natural food whether your human or canine is bound to be better for you, right? But what rules does the dog food industry have to follow? Do they have to use the same standard for dog food that they do for human consumption? What would be another good option for feeding your dog?

Is Eating Natural Food Better For Your Dog?

If the food is truely all natural and gives your dog the nutrition he needs to thrive it is.

Most dog foods whether they are all natural, holistic, or just regular dog food do not contain the nutrition that your dog needs to thrive. Dogs need a high amount of protein but they also need vegetables. They majority of dog foods do not provide your dog with nearly enough protein and few of them give your dog enough vegetables. Dogs, like people, need a diet that varies in order for them to achieve the proper nutrition. Dogs that receive the proper nutrition live twice as long as dogs who don't. It's very rare these days to see a dog die of old age which is sad because most dogs die from preventable diseases.

What Are The Rules And Standards?

Dog food does not follow the same guidelines as food for human consumption does. In fact they get all of the leftovers that are not suitable for humans. This may be a shock for most people but dog food may even contain poison. Animal that are put down in the pound are regularly used as a protein source for dog food and the poison, Sodium Pentobarbital, does not cook out when the meat is processed.

Another question to ask yourself would be what would happen to meat without preservatives that sat on a shelf for the next six months? It would rot. So if a dog food claims that it has no preservatives then it either has no meat in it (which would be very bad for your dog) or it has preservatives in it (also very bad for your dog).

The dog food industry can get away with saying that food is preservative free even when it has preservatives in it. There is a rule that what ever is put into the meat before it reaches their plant does not have to be stated in the ingredients.
